    [Pangyo Tech] Odin Robotics and ICON sign MOU for development of unmanned convenience store

    Odin Robotics Co., Ltd. announced on the 3rd that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with ICON Co., Ltd. to ‘build an unmanned convenience store.’

    As unmanned stores are accelerating due to the untact trend caused by COVID-19 and social issues such as minimum wage increase, Odin Robotics, a company specializing in AI store unmanned solutions, and ICON, a subsidiary of Gyeongdong and Joint Express, are able to utilize the logistics infrastructure accumulated over a long period of time. It was announced that it would pursue convenience store logistics and franchise business.

    Odin Robotics, a company located in the Pangyo Startup Zone established by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and operated by the Startup Promotion Agency and the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center, will provide AI unmanned store operation solution, AI QR access solution, and AI unmanned store operation solution, AI QR access solution, to ‘Icon 24’, an unmanned convenience store to be built with ICON in accordance with the agreement. ‘Heimdall Unmanned 365-Integrated Solution’ including payment kiosk and CCTV security is planned to be applied.

    Heimdall Unmanned 365 integrated solution is a solution that can make stores unmanned using advanced AI and IT automation technology. It is a solution that allows all elements needed to build an unmanned store to be remotely managed at once, from access to self-payment, to store operation, without the need to find and combine products from different companies.

    An official from Gyeongdong and Joint Delivery Business said, “The unmanned convenience store market is in a transitional period where forms and technologies are diverse and changing rapidly, and Odin Robotics’ Heimdall Unmanned 365 technology is one step ahead of fully unmanned and has the flexibility to quickly respond to changing environments. He explained the background of the agreement and said, “Through Icon24’s logistics know-how and infrastructure synergy and Odin Robotics’ technological capabilities, we expect to be able to achieve greater growth than when we go it alone.”

    In addition, through this business agreement, ‘Icon24’ expressed its ambition to provide fresh convenience store services and products that customers have never experienced before.

    In the future, both companies plan to provide customers and store owners with simpler convenience store logistics systems, store operation solutions, and convenient services from entry to payment through Gyeongdong and Joint Express’s accumulated logistics know-how.

    Meanwhile, Odin Robotics is in the process of upgrading and differentiating ‘Heimdall Unmanned 365’ based on its unmanned experience in various industries such as butcher shops, PC rooms, pet supplies, and game shop franchises. Recently, the company has been expanding its unmanned store business into new areas, such as installing an appropriate personnel management solution in the smoking room at Kangwon Land and building an unmanned rest area for Goyang City Hall and mobile workers.
