Rockwell Automation announced that it will participate in ‘Interbattery 3’, Korea’s largest secondary battery industry exhibition, to be held at COEX in Seoul from March 15th to 17th. Rockwell Automation has recent technology and a diverse portfolio related to electric vehicle and battery manufacturing, and will showcase innovative solutions for electric vehicle battery manufacturing through this exhibition.
InterBattery 2023 will be operated as an exhibition showcasing various new products and technologies related to batteries, ranging from the rapidly growing mobile small market to the energy, automobile industry, and ESS and EV mid- to large-sized markets. Rockwell Automation, a company specializing in industrial automation and digital transformation, is one of the companies that best understands the entire process, including electrode manufacturing, cell assembly, and cell activation, of EV batteries.
Accordingly, Rockwell Automation introduces an end-to-end battery manufacturing portfolio that can effectively support battery manufacturers and related machinery manufacturers at this exhibition.
The solutions Rockwell Automation is presenting at this exhibition include ▲Smart Devices, which supports the entire EV battery manufacturing process, ▲Automation & Control, ▲Smart Manufacturing Operation Solution (Smart Connected Enterprise), and ▲Risk management system. System).
First, the smart device part will showcase a portfolio and demonstration of independent cart technology (Intelligent Cart Technology, ICT) based on linear synchronous motors optimized for the battery manufacturing process. Standalone cart technology is a solution that improves automation speed and flexibility by replacing mechanical parts with an effective software profile while simplifying mechanical parts compared to traditional conveyor methods. Additionally, the PowerFlex® 755T, which provides flexible, high-performance motor control for demanding industrial environments, and ArmorKinetix, a distributed motion control solution, will also be introduced. In addition, we plan to demonstrate solutions in the EV and semiconductor field solutions section with KC Industrial, a special distributor of Rockwell Automation.
The automation & control part exhibits process solutions for control and optimization throughout the factory and industrial Internet of Things data convergence and analysis solutions. Representative examples include DCS, an automatic control system distributed throughout the plant, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), which can be applied to a variety of applications from large-scale and small-scale to micro-applications, and no-code machine learning solutions that can be used immediately at the edge.
The smart manufacturing operations solution part includes augmented reality solutions for manufacturing innovation, MES (production management system) as an end-to-end battery cell manufacturing execution system, MES as a scalable smart manufacturing operations platform, MOM (manufacturing operations management), and extensive manufacturing, Introducing ThingWorx, an IIoT solution for service and engineering. In particular, you can take a look at MES solutions optimized for EV batteries.
The risk management system part introduces integrated safety solutions and network and cybersecurity services to improve safety and productivity. We plan to exhibit cybersecurity and network management systems that diagnose, build, and manage customized smart factory infrastructure, OT cybersecurity construction and control services, and dynamic digital twin software. In particular, Rockwell Automation plans to inform participating companies of its possible portfolio, from safety consulting to solutions and implementation.
Lee Yong-ha, CEO of Rockwell Automation Korea, said, “As demand for electric vehicles has recently increased, demand for batteries is also increasing rapidly. In order for battery manufacturers to respond to this demand, it is necessary to establish a safe manufacturing process while increasing production efficiency and quality,” he said. “Rockwell Automation is improving the competitiveness of the domestic automobile battery industry through a cutting-edge and competitive battery manufacturing portfolio. “We will support manufacturers in resolving their production process challenges.”
