Research Fellow Baek Hoon said, “In our economy, the economic role and proportion of small and medium-sized businesses has increased from their role in supporting the infrastructure of the national economy in the past to the driving force of economic growth in recent years. “Despite the economic status of small and medium-sized businesses, competition is intensifying due to rapid changes in the trade order as the Ukraine-Russia war has recently prolonged,” he said.
Researcher Baek diagnosed that half of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises perceive the polarization between large and small businesses after the COVID-19 incident as worse than before. “What is more serious is that dependence on consignment companies and exclusive trading practices make them more sensitive to threats from the external environment,” Baek said. “It is causing a chain of difficulties for small and medium-sized businesses in business relationships,” he added.
Research Fellow Baek provided a diagnosis on the current status of shared growth policies. He emphasized, “As a result of the government-led implementation of the win-win cooperation policy between large and small businesses, it is time to consider changes to private-led win-win cooperation,” and added, “It is time to respond to new paradigm changes and spread a more active win-win culture.” did.
Researcher Baek Hoon mentioned the need for ‘new shared growth’ suitable for the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution and said, “The paradigm of shared growth policy must change, and a digital-centered sustainable growth shared growth policy based on fair competition and private sector-led coexistence must be implemented. “We must resolve chronic imbalances and establish new growth engines that lead transformation,” he said.
He suggested the following directions for new shared growth: △establishing a selection and focused innovative growth ladder △establishing a region-centered open network innovation system △spreading a win-win culture of walking together △establishing an effective shared growth support system.
