Poongsan participated in the ‘6th International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 7)’ held at Busan BEXCO Exhibition Center 9 from June 1 (Wed) to 13 (Fri).
Designated as an ammunition manufacturer by the government in 1973, Poongsan has been playing a leading role in self-reliant national defense by establishing a large-scale ammunition factory and establishing a self-sufficiency system and localization of military ammunition. The company explains that it has high competitiveness in quality, price and delivery by having an integrated production system from procurement of materials and parts such as new materials for ammunition, propellant gunpowder and links, as well as filling and assembling gunpowder.
In particular, the recent development of new ammunition such as anti-tank ammunition with improved penetrating power, range extension ammunition with significantly extended range, Goal Keeper ammunition used in Korean destroyers, and dual-purpose ammunition that can suppress tanks and multiple troops at the same time. It is also making progress in improving the performance of conventional ammunition.
The 76m high-explosive HE, which was introduced at this exhibition, weighs 12.4kg and has a maximum range of 609km and a bullet speed of 16.3mps. Applied to naval guns, it is used in maritime power along with range-extending high explosives, drag reduction high explosives, and practice bombs.
Poongsan participates in the defense industry based on production technology for copper and copper alloy products, which are the basic materials of ammunition, and has established large-scale dedicated production lines for each type of ammunition at Angang and Busan sites. We develop and supply all types of ammunition used.
