Yellowsis Co., Ltd. (CEO Tak Yu-kyung) participated in the ‘4 World IT Show (WIS 19)’ held at COEX in Seoul from Wednesday, April 21 to Friday, April 2023.

Yellosis, which spun off from Samsung Electronics C-Lab in 2020, is a Pre-Series A stage digital healthcare startup comprised of key personnel from Samsung Electronics’ medical device division. We are about to launch a smart urine test kit that will allow individuals to manage their health at home through a simple test using urine.

The first product, ‘Cym702 Boat’, is nearing completion of medical device certification after completion of development and is scheduled to be released at the end of April. Accordingly, through this exhibition, we plan to effectively enter the market through strategic marketing partnerships that can effectively promote and sell products, and we plan to provide opportunities to enter and occupy a wide range of markets by pioneering domestic and overseas sales channels.

‘Cym702 Boat (Basic)’ is a simple personal urine test kit that allows anyone to easily manage their health in their daily lives. You can immediately check the results by urinating on a boat (test pad) and taking a picture with the app. Officials explain that users can prevent diseases by monitoring trends in test results through the app and managing health warning signs. There are a total of five test items: occult blood (inflammation), protein (kidney health), glucose (diabetes management), pH (body acidity), and ketones (body fat decomposition). Currently, there are 5 domestic patent registrations, 2 domestic applications, 7 PCT applications, and 2 US patent application, and development clinical planning and collaboration with Samsung Hospital, Health Examination Center, and pharmacies are in progress.

A Yellow Sys official said, “Most existing urine tests had to be performed by visiting a hospital, spending time and money. Although it was possible to test at home using urine test strips, the process was complicated with multiple steps and record management was not easy, so its utilization was low. In particular, many users were reluctant and inconvenienced to have urine on their hands while soaking the test strip after receiving urine in the container. “In addition, the process of reading the results with the naked eye was inconvenient, and the color distinction on the test reagent paper was ambiguous, so inaccurate results were obtained.”

Accordingly, Cym702 Boat integrates the urine test strip and urine container, reducing the user’s discomfort, test time, and human error used in the urine test. For testing, we have eliminated the inconvenience and inaccuracy caused by the multi-step process of receiving urine in a urine cup and recording the test results, as well as using biodegradable paper and soy ink and increasing the utilization of paper packages. We wanted to solve the problem of single-use test kits. Through this, we aim to pursue health sustainability where humans and the environment can coexist.

In addition, the test results are accurate through environmental correction of the mobile phone app and deep learning algorithm reading, thereby increasing the accessibility of home urine testing. Regarding this, an official said, “By minimizing user carelessness and various environmental factors (lighting, shadows, mobile phone models, etc.) that can occur when measuring urine test results through a correction deep learning algorithm, we secured an accuracy of test results of over 98.6%.” “He emphasized, “Using additional user functions, the person in charge of health management at home can manage the health of their family in an integrated manner.”

Through these improvements in technology and convenience, Yellowsis is seeking to expand its reach overseas. We are in the process of signing an MOU with Kardio Health, an American telemedicine service provider, and establishing services. In India, we are also investigating the human and animal urine testing market, and in Taiwan, PoC and application discussions for animal applications are in progress. We are conducting joint development project planning and market research with Romania.
