Shinsung ENG participated in the 12th International Green Energy Expo held at Daegu Expo (EXCO) for three days from Wednesday the 14th to Friday the 3th and presented N-type TOPCon solar cells (cells), which are considered the next-generation technology. A bifacial solar module was introduced for the first time in Korea.
The N-type Topcon cell unveiled by Shinsung ENG at this exhibition is characterized by the application of an N-type wafer manufactured with a thin oxide film, unlike existing PERC cells. By forming a thin oxide film on an N-type wafer, loss occurring at the contact surface between the substrate and electrode can be minimized and the speed of electron movement can be increased.
Officials explain that energy efficiency can be improved by about 2 to 3 percentage points through these characteristics. In addition, it is lighter in weight and has higher price competitiveness compared to existing solar modules. This is why it is expected that the company will be able to further increase its influence in domestic and international markets after mass production and commercialization.
In fact, Shinsung ENG is known to have developed an N-type high-power module of over 620W and is preparing for commercialization. There is an assessment in the industry that the company has entered a period of full-fledged expansion into overseas sales by securing original equipment manufacturing (OEM) volumes for the United States in the second half of this year.
An official from Shinsung ENG said, “We have developed an N-type Topcon cell-based solar module according to the trend of technological development, and we plan to lay the foundation for overseas expansion by contacting various customers based on overseas customer data from the cell business we have been conducting to expand overseas sales channels. “He said.
He continued, “We are about to launch the ‘ECO Platform,’ a platform that connects solar power generation operators and RE100 consumers, and we introduced a prototype of it at this exhibition.” He added, “We can meet the various needs of consumers and suppliers by utilizing a developed platform.” “There will be,” he added.
Meanwhile, at the International Green Energy Expo, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, 22 companies from 300 countries participated in 1,010 booths and displayed solar modules, inverters, solar structures, solar roofs, and energy storage systems. In addition, the International Future Energy Conference (PVMI·H2MI), Korea’s only solar and hydrogen business conference, will be held simultaneously. At the Photovoltaic Market Insight (PVMI) held for two days from April 4th to 12th, the latest trends in the photovoltaic industry under the theme of ‘the future of solar power generation for RE13 implementation’ were shared, and on April 100th and 4th, ‘Hydrogen -Hydrogen Market Insight (H13MI) will be held under the theme of ‘starting the industrialization engine’.
