Kim Joo-heon, team leader of Korea East-West Power, spoke as a speaker at the ‘14rd Hydrogen Market Insights (H3 MI)’ domestic P2G empirical status session held at EXCO (CEO Lee Sang-gil) in Daegu on the 2th and said, ‘Green hydrogen P2G for CHPS introduction. A presentation was made on the ‘empirical method’.
Team leader Kim Joo-heon’s presentation included △necessity of research △research implementation plan (securing high stability of alkaline water electrolysis device, MW-level green hydrogen P2G demonstration linked to solar power, development of large-area alkaline water electrolysis system, development of hydrogen storage technology) △overview of P2G demonstration site, etc. It proceeded in that order.
Team Leader Kim selected securing safety technology (2), demonstrating MW-level green hydrogen (2023), and advancing water electrolysis technology (2024) as strategies for establishing a foundation for solar power-linked P2025G full-cycle demonstration and commercialization. Team leader Kim said, “We are carrying out verification of the ‘Securing high safety of alkaline water electrolysis device’ project that has been in progress since 2019,” and added, “We are planning to secure the database through verification of 20N㎥/h and operation linked to renewable energy.” .
Team leader Kim then explained the MW-level green hydrogen P2G demonstration project linked to solar power. Team Leader Kim presented the main verification plans as △PV power generation prediction system △solar power generation (3.2MW) △power conversion device (DC/DC) △water electrolysis device △storage alloy △B-ESS △PEMFC △green hydrogen supply, etc. .
Team Leader Kim said, “Through this, we will predict the amount of renewable energy generation and calculate the amount of transmission constraints by region and period related to renewable energy output limits.” He added, “We will calculate the hydrogen production volume by region and establish a hydrogen supply and demand plan based on consumption.” .
Regarding this, the short-term plan was to develop a solar power-based hydrogen production, storage, and utilization predictive control system, and the long-term plan was to establish a plan to build a hydrogen production prediction P2G plant based on solar power production.
Regarding the P2G demonstration site, Team Leader Kim said, “The infrastructure conditions are excellent, such as a renewable energy power generation complex has been built and an MOU with the local government has been signed,” adding, “Conditions such as project connectivity and resident acceptance are also good.” Finally, Team Leader Kim expressed his ambition, saying, “As a public institution, Korea East-West Power will be reborn as a central institution in the green hydrogen R&D field in the future.”
