Jeong Hyeon-beom, head of the Korea Water Resources Corporation’s Green Hydrogen Business Division, spoke at the ’14rd Hydrogen Market Insights (H3 Market Insights/H2MI)’ domestic P2G empirical status session held at EXCO (CEO Lee Sang-gil) in Daegu on the 2th and said, ‘K-water green hydrogen The ‘business status’ was disclosed.
Director Jeong Hyeon-beom said, “The average global temperature from 2016 to 2020 has risen by 1.1 degrees compared to before industrialization, and this is causing various problems such as threats to the ecosystem, rising sea levels, increased occurrence of forest fires, and increased droughts and floods.” “The world is actively moving to overcome the climate crisis, and K-water has also made a lot of efforts.”
In addition, Director Jeong said, “Green hydrogen is eco-friendly hydrogen that does not emit carbon dioxide, produced by electrolyzing water using electricity produced from renewable energy,” and added, “There is a movement related to hydrogen production in countries around the world, including the US, EU, Australia, and Japan. “They are active,” he claimed.
At the same time, Director Jeong said, “K-water is capable of supporting the revitalization of the national hydrogen economy in all areas, including green hydrogen production and utilization based on water management, renewable energy infrastructure, and related technologies,” and added, “Green hydrogen-related pilots are being conducted in various parts of the country.” “We are carrying out business,” he said.
Lastly, regarding the green hydrogen production-supply activation system, he said, △ In connection with the CHPS (Clean Fuel Mandate), differential incentives need to be paid according to carbon emissions when distributing hydrogen in the hydrogen economy market △ Eco-friendly and green within the hydrogen industry such as hydrogen charging stations and fuel cells Improvement measures such as the need for a mandatory plan to use hydrogen at a certain rate and the need to prepare a plan to utilize green hydrogen and diversify demand (focusing on the transportation sector and exploring ways to utilize hydrogen in all industrial sectors) were presented.
