Kim Young-kwon, head of Jeonbuk Techno Park’s new and renewable energy business division, spoke as a speaker at the ’14rd Hydrogen Market Insights (H3 Market Insights H2MI)’ hydrogen city construction and future strategy session held at EXCO (CEO Lee Sang-gil) in Daegu on the 2th and said, ‘Hydrogen demonstration. An announcement was made about the ‘major achievements of the cities of Jeonju and Wanju.’

The Jeonju-Wanju hydrogen pilot city development project was carried out for 2020 months starting in January 1. The main contents of the project include building and operating a hydrogen-based metropolitan public transportation system, operating a hydrogen promotion center in a Hanok village boasting 36 million visitors to improve resident acceptance, and establishing a foundation for Jeonbuk-type hydrogen energy independence by linking the Saemangeum green hydrogen production cluster.

The plan is to take charge of hydrogen production and supply in Wanju, and establish Jeonju as a city that uses and promotes hydrogen. In addition, Jeonbuk will manage safety by building a hydrogen city and operating an integrated safety management center. Director Kim presented a three-step strategy to build a hydrogen city ecosystem by 2030.

Other specialized areas mentioned included building a hydrogen play experience center and demonstrating a forest fire surveillance system using hydrogen drones. Director Kim emphasized, “Jeonju and Wanju will become the optimal model for a Jeonbuk-type hydrogen society,” and “They will be reborn as a meaningful model of cooperation and coexistence through hydrogen.”
