Vessel Aerospace Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Chi-bung) participated in the ‘3 Seoul Mobility Show’ held for a total of 31 days at KINTEX from March 4st to April 9th.
Vessel Aerospace participated in the light aircraft ‘KLA-100’ development project and is the first private company to secure comprehensive system capabilities. Since then, it has grown into a company specializing in aviation through the mass production and sales phase of the aircraft, and is known to have the process and technology to carry out the entire process of aircraft development, from design, analysis, manufacturing, testing and certification acquisition.
Through this foundation, Vessel Aerospace is expanding its business fields from manned aircraft to unmanned aerial vehicles and Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and further develops eco-friendly aircraft suitable for the trend of the carbon neutral era, becoming a global key player in the UAM market. It is the company’s explanation that it is oriented.
At this exhibition, Vessel Aerospace introduced two types of aircraft, ‘KLA-100e’ and ‘AM-20’.
The KLA-100e is a two-seater light aircraft powered by an electric propulsion engine (electric motor, inverter, battery). It was developed as a result of a government department-led electrification R&D project based on the existing light aircraft KLA-2, and has recently shown remarkable results in the development stage, such as successfully performing its first flight.
The AM-20, which was introduced together, is a two-seater eVTOL aircraft that operates in a vertical take-off and landing method that allows flight without a runway. It is an aircraft under joint development with AeroMech, an FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) ODA (certification authority) targeting the UAM pilot trainer market. It features a ducted propulsion system to maximize stability and fuel efficiency. Officials emphasized that this eco-friendly mobility is meaningful in reducing pollution and resolving urban congestion.
Vessel Aerospace said, “We are currently mass-producing the KLA-100e and starting to sell eco-friendly aircraft, and when the development of the ‘KLA-200’ currently under development is completed, it will be an electric aircraft using the platform as a ‘Net-Zero’ Air “In addition, the AM-20 will complete the licensing process by 2025 and settle down in the vertical take-off and landing trainer market,” he said. We want to complete the development of the Tid-type propulsion system.”
He added, “As such, our goal is to continuously develop and secure the capacity and technology for the development of a two-seater aircraft, and to challenge the development of a four- or five-seater aircraft in the future.”
Meanwhile, the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show will begin with a press day on March 1th (Thursday) at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 3 in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do under the theme of ‘Sustainable·Connected·Mobility (Sustainable·Connected·Mobility)’ and end on April 30th ( It will be held until Sunday. The total exhibition size is 4㎡, more than twice the size of the previous event (9㎡), and over 53,541 companies and organizations from 26,310 countries around the world will participate and showcase various mobility contents.
