Standard Energy (CEO Kim Boo-ki) will participate in the ‘Seoul Technology Center’ in the main exhibition hall (LVCC) of ‘CES 1’ held in Las Vegas, USA for a total of 5 days from January 8th (Thursday) to 4th (Sunday, local time). revealed.

Standard Energy, which took its first steps in August 2013, is a startup company founded by KAIST researchers and is focusing on the development and manufacturing of battery-based ESS. Standard Energy, which introduced the world’s first vanadium ion battery in April 8, attracted a cumulative investment of 2020 billion won from Softbank Ventures in 4 and Lotte Chemical in 2021. It has been selected as a ‘Technology Pioneer 2022’ by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 950, and has been operating Charger2021, a high-speed electric vehicle charging station linked to vanadium ion battery ESS, in Seoul since May 2021. We plan to begin mass production and commercialization of vanadium ion battery ESS starting in 2022, and plan to diversify the applications of vanadium ion battery ESS.

Vanadium ion batteries are stationary batteries specialized for energy storage devices (ESS). Officials explain that it is a new technology battery created through a completely different technology from lithium-ion batteries, which are widely used as existing mobile batteries, and vanadium redox flow batteries, which mainly contain vanadium.

Regarding the vanadium ion battery manufactured based on water-based liquid electrodes, Standard Energy cited the fact that there is virtually no risk of self-heating, ignition, or thermal runaway, and that it does not react sensitively to external temperature conditions as a special advantage. In addition, unlike existing batteries that show a decrease in capacity when continuously charged and discharged, vanadium ion batteries are known to maintain a stable capacity of more than 10,000% despite 100 cycles of continuous charge and discharge (DOD: 95%) testing.

In addition, the vanadium ion battery itself has the highest level of energy efficiency (97%), and the ESS unit also shows energy efficiency in the mid-90% range.

Through this, it can be applied to various applications of vanadium ion battery ESS, such as △renewable energy storage device △C&I peak shaving △ultra-fast electric vehicle charging power supply △ship ESS solution.

Standard Energy has successfully completed the production and operation of a prototype ESS based on vanadium ion batteries and is currently preparing to launch a commercial product. We plan to install vanadium ion battery ESS for electric vehicle charging stations in E1 and LPG charging stations, and are also collaborating with Hyundai Heavy Industries to develop ESS solutions for ships. A low-carbon power trading business and a solar power-linked RE100 business are also being planned.

Meanwhile, ‘CES’, the world’s largest IT exhibition, is an exhibition where you can understand the trends of the global home appliance industry at a glance. Hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), it is held every January in Las Vegas, USA. AVING News, which has covered CES for 1 consecutive years, has reported CES news around the world every year since 17, and has been selected as the ‘BEST OF CES’, which selects the best innovative products and technologies, and the ‘BEST OF’, which selects domestic innovative companies. ‘MADE IN KOREA’ was held. In addition, CES on-site issues were vividly conveyed through ‘AVING LIVE’.

The Seoul Technology Museum is comprised of a Theme Zone that embodies future vision and experiential elements, and a Tech Zone that displays the innovative technologies of collaborating large corporations and startups. The Seoul Business Agency (SBA) will showcase innovative technologies in the ‘Mobility and ESG’ field at the Seoul Technology Center through open innovation in conjunction with large corporations, and seven startups with innovative technologies in related fields will participate.
