NVIDIA (CEO Jensen Huang) announced at CES 2023, the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, that the ‘NVIDIA GeForce NOW’ cloud gaming service will be provided to cars without special equipment. NVIDIA DRIVE ecosystem members Hyundai Motor Group, BYD, and Polestar are the first automakers to collaborate with NVIDIA to provide GeForce Now in their vehicles.

“We are excited to be able to offer the latest games with NVIDIA GeForce Now high-performance cloud gaming service, in addition to BYD’s technology, comfort and design,” said Stella Li, BYD Vice President and CEO of BYD Americas. “The BYD vehicle driving experience is becoming increasingly sophisticated, fun and sustainable.”

Thanks to cloud technology and mobile internet, vehicle occupants can avoid boredom by enjoying music, movies, and video games in the car. Drivers and front-seat passengers can access games while parked or charging, and rear-seat passengers in vehicles equipped with rear entertainment functions can enjoy games at any time.

Hyundai Motor Group, which owns the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands, is equipped with NVIDIA Drive vehicle infotainment across its entire lineup. BYD, a leading new energy vehicle manufacturer, announced that it will build new energy vehicles (NEVs) based on the NVIDIA Drive Hyperion platform starting in the first half of 2023. Meanwhile, Polestar is using NVIDIA DRIVE for its software-defined architecture, and the upcoming Polestar 3 is based on NVIDIA’s DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip.

Over 1,000 games to enjoy anytime, anywhere

Next-generation vehicles are experiencing a shift from fixed functions to software-defined functions. At the same time, cars are becoming increasingly connected, offering new services that were not previously possible.

GeForce Now delivers a complete PC gaming experience on virtually any device, including laptops, mobile devices, smart TVs, and now personal vehicles. The GeForce Now automotive client runs on Android or browser-based automotive infotainment systems, providing apps that make it easy to select and play your favorite games.

GeForce Now uses groundbreaking low-latency cloud streaming technology to enable real-time gameplay powered by GeForce servers in the cloud. Over 1,500 titles and controllers available from leading stores such as Steam, Epic Games Store, Electronic Arts app, Ubisoft and GOG.com. More than 1,000 games are provided. This includes some of the most popular games such as A Plague Tale: Requiem, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077.

This allows you to play some of the most played free-to-play games like Fortnite, Lost Ark, and Destiny 2.

    experience the future

The ability to stream games from the car is a key component of future in-vehicle experiences.

As autonomous driving technology becomes more common, interior design will play a big role in differentiating brand identity. In the future, consumers will focus more on features such as digital assistants, beautiful graphic displays, and streaming content when making vehicle purchasing decisions.

These changes transform vehicles into living spaces rather than mere means of transportation, freeing passengers from the stress of driving and allowing them to enjoy what is more important to them, whether work or leisure.

Hyundai Motor Group, BYD and Polestar have taken an important step in the new era of personal transportation by offering GeForce Now in their vehicles.
