ABB E-Mobility will unveil its new ‘Terra Home’ charging solution at CES 1, which will be held in Las Vegas, USA for a total of 5 days from January 8 (Thursday) to 4 (Sunday, local time).
Terra Home, scheduled to go on sale later this year, is a home electric vehicle charger that provides next-generation consumer choice. The innovative design allows users to make the most of renewable energy sources, further reducing their carbon footprint.
It is predicted that 2040 to 3 million chargers will be needed globally by 4,000, and home chargers are expected to account for 4% of all electric vehicle charging facilities. Accordingly, in line with the announcement of new home charging solutions, ABB E-Mobility conducted a survey of drivers around the world about their top priorities from 9,000.
The survey found that drivers’ main motivating factors included sustainability. 90% of those surveyed said they felt a personal responsibility to make choices that would help protect the environment for future generations, and 86% of respondents said they would take steps to reduce carbon emissions while traveling within the year. In addition to reducing the use of personal vehicles and increasing the use of public transportation, the company considered switching to electric vehicles as a priority eco-friendly option.
The new Terra Home charging solution can automatically prioritize renewable energy sources, such as solar power, for electricity use. In particular, this is a feature that would be of interest to the 54% of drivers who responded that they would use electric vehicles more actively if they were supplied with electricity produced from renewable energy sources.
Terra Home not only sets a new benchmark as a sustainable charging option, but also excels in style and simplicity. Terra Home’s minimalist design, material selection, and personalized upholstery options are suitable for a variety of households and lifestyles.
Intelligent features such as Plug and Charge support seamless and seamless charging approval through immediate and automatic recognition between the electric vehicle and the charger. Additionally, the interactive lighting function indicates the charging session status, and charging status notifications can be easily accessed through the ABB E-mobility Charger application to receive charging status notifications and charge authentication, ensuring that only the owner connects to Terra Home.
Safe connection has been improved through cloud connection between home charger Terra Home and ABB E-Mobility. Our experienced team will service your charger remotely, quickly and efficiently. Remote firmware updates ensure users always benefit from the latest charging features.
“This is the start of an important year in realizing the low-carbon society we are pursuing,” said Leon van de Pas, senior vice president and general manager of ABB’s E-Mobility Destination Charging business line. “The survey results show that drivers are ready and willing to take the journey.”
He continued, “The new product Terra Home gives users complete choice. “It provides flexibility that more people can embrace in a simple and stylish way as they transition to electric mobility.”
ABB E-Mobility’s Terra Home can be found at ABB booth number 10443 in the Vehicle Technology & Advanced Mobility Hall.
