[Las Vegas (USA) = AVING News] AU Inc (CEO Baekhyun Kim) held ‘CES’ held in Las Vegas, USA for a total of 4 days from January 5th (Thursday) to January 8th (Sunday, local time), 2023. Participated in the Eureka Park K-STARTUP Integrated Hall, a startup zone of 2023.

Established in 2019, AU is a company that specializes in developing and supplying radar and sensors mounted inside and outside of automobiles. In particular, it has radar technology that can detect vital signs such as the occupants’ breathing and heart rate using millimeter wavelengths. In addition, based on its own sensor technology and wide application range, AU plans to expand its solutions from RFIC design to signal processing and target detection in the future to provide so-called ‘Full Custom’ design services.

In this exhibition, AU presents ‘In-cabin Passenger Detection Radar’. This is a product that detects and measures vital signs such as breathing and heart rate of vehicle occupants in real time to check their status. Detailed information such as the number of people on board and the location of passengers can be collected, and even passengers in blind spots can be detected through the radar sensor’s ability to penetrate obstacles.

The purpose of the in-cabin passenger detection radar is to immediately deliver a notification to a connected smartphone app when an abnormality occurs in the occupant’s vital signs, enabling immediate action. This prevents accidents that occur when mobility-vulnerable groups such as infants, the disabled, and the elderly are left unattended in vehicles, and is expected to have high utility value as a more economical solution than existing ultrasonic or weight detection sensors.

An AU official said, “Every year, more than 50 children die from being left unattended in vehicles during the summer. “Our radar uses technology that detects the occupants’ vital signs to prevent such tragic accidents,” he said. “In addition, it precisely detects the number of passengers and their riding positions and is also linked to seat belts and advanced airbag systems.” “We want to create a safer vehicle environment,” he said, explaining the background to the product development.

“In addition, our company is currently developing a high-resolution imaging radar that precisely detects driving situations using a radar sensor in the 77GHz band,” he said. “Based on this proprietary technology, we are expanding not only to the domestic market but also to the North American and European markets through this CES.” “We want to find new partners to advance our business,” he added.

Meanwhile, ‘CES’, the world’s largest IT exhibition, is an exhibition where you can understand the trends of the global home appliance industry at a glance. Hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), it is held every January in Las Vegas, USA. AVING News, which has covered CES for 1 consecutive years, has reported CES news around the world every year since 17, and has been selected as the ‘BEST OF CES’, which selects the best innovative products and technologies, and the ‘BEST OF’, which selects domestic innovative companies. ‘MADE IN KOREA’ was held. In addition, CES on-site issues were vividly conveyed through ‘AVING LIVE’.

The K-STARTUP Integrated Pavilion is jointly participated by the Korea Start-up Agency, Seoul Business Agency, and Seoul Digital Foundation, and 51 domestic innovative companies participated to enter the U.S. market and discover global partners. In addition, CES 2023 college student supporters selected from each university (Kyunghee University, Kookmin University, Sogang University, and Chung-Ang University) were matched considering majors and industrial fields of participating companies.
