Squad Mobility announced on the 1th that it will participate in CES 2023, the world’s largest home appliance and electronics fair to be held in Las Vegas, USA in January, and introduce its solar electric vehicle ‘SQUAD Solar City Car’.
Squad Mobility, a Dutch company, is a startup established in 2019 that has developed its research and development capabilities with the goal of disseminating next-generation mobility powered by solar energy. As a result, the company unveiled the Squad Solar City Car as its brand’s first vehicle and is currently taking pre-orders, with plans to launch and begin sales in 2024.
The Squad Solar City Car is a two-seater lightweight electric vehicle that satisfies the LSV (USA) and L6e (EU) classification standards. Charging and supply of power is done with solar panels mounted on the roof, and depending on the region, climate, and amount of sunlight, an average driving range of 2km to a maximum of 22km can be secured with solar charging alone. Furthermore, the replaceable portable battery allows driving up to 31 km, excluding solar charging.
Squad Mobility explains that there is enough additional storage space inside, including a driver’s seat and a passenger seat that can accommodate two tall adult men. At the same time, the maximum area outside the vehicle is only 2㎡, providing high convenience for driving and parking, and it is equipped with a 2.4-point seat belt and a complete crash structure at the front and rear to provide a safe driving experience for the driver and passengers when driving.
In addition, efficient solutions for vehicle maintenance were also included. It provides essential vehicle data in real time, 24 hours a day, enabling preemptive response when repairs or replacements are needed, and is designed to make interior and exterior cleaning and parts replacement easier.
In addition, the vehicle’s wheels serve as bumpers to prevent damage to body parts, and the ‘SQUAD Battery Wall’, which allows quick battery replacement and charging, is also an additional option. Furthermore, it is introduced as a vehicle optimized for common use by multiple users by strengthening wear resistance throughout the vehicle.
Robert Hovers, CEO of Squad Mobility, said, “We believe that American customers will be interested in the concept of a squad city car that provides independence, comfort, and freedom as well as the generation, storage, and use of energy.” , “In fact, we are receiving great interest from the U.S. market in areas such as shared vehicle platforms and tourism, hotels and resorts, amusement parks and urban services,” he said.
Squad Mobility plans to introduce the Squad Solar City Car at this CES and actively meet with potential partners in the U.S. market, including investors, B2B customers, and media.
