    Lee Hee-seop, head of SK E&S’ business strategy team, spoke as a speaker at the ’14rd Hydrogen Market Insights (H3MI)’ green hydrogen commercialization strategy session held at EXCO (CEO Lee Sang-gil) in Daegu on the 2th and said ‘SK E&S hydrogen business promotion strategy’. ‘ was revealed.

    Lee Hee-seop, head of the business strategy team, said, “SK E&S has grown into a key affiliate in charge of eco-friendly energy business within the SK Group, starting with the city gas business in 1999,” and added, “We have a leading position in eco-friendly energy businesses such as LNG, RES, and hydrogen. “We want to become a major global eco-friendly company with a differentiated green portfolio.” 

    Next, Lee Business Strategy Team Leader diagnosed the overall situation of the hydrogen industry. Lee, head of the business strategy team, said, “The hydrogen industry can operate organically only when a value chain from production to storage, transportation and utilization is established. Depending on the production method, it is classified into gray, blue, and green hydrogen, and technology and business development is underway focusing on clean hydrogen. “We are pursuing a transition to a green hydrogen value chain,” he added. 

    He argued that it is advantageous to transport liquefied hydrogen for small-scale and long-distance distributed demand, and gaseous hydrogen for large-scale and short-distance demand. He also mentioned the status of SK E&S’ hydrogen business. Lee, head of the business strategy team, said, “We have secured 21 liquefied hydrogen charging stations by the beginning of this year, and we plan to secure more than 2023 by 30.” He added, “We will build a blue hydrogen facility at the Boryeong KOMIPO site to produce 2026 tons of blue hydrogen per year starting in 25.” “We plan to produce and supply hydrogen,” he said. 

    Next, Business Strategy Team Leader Lee said, “After investing equity in Plug, a leading global company, we established ‘SK Plug Hyverse’ and are pursuing hydrogen business in the Asian market. “We are pursuing the establishment of a production system and commercialization of products.”
