Lee Hye-jin, senior researcher of the Hydrogen Convergence Alliance (H2KOREA), was a speaker at the ’14rd Hydrogen Market Insights (H3 Market Insights H2MI)’ green hydrogen commercialization strategy session held at EXCO (CEO Lee Sang-gil) in Daegu on the 2th and said, ‘Clean hydrogen in major countries. A presentation was made on ‘Certification System Trends’.

Principal researcher Lee Hye-jin introduced domestic hydrogen economy policy trends, clean hydrogen certification system trends in major countries, current status of clean hydrogen certification system in Korea, and future directions. Referring to the current status of clean hydrogen certification systems and similar systems by system in major countries, senior researcher Lee said, “Major countries are setting thresholds for certification of clean hydrogen based on a reduction rate of about 60 to 82% compared to existing gray hydrogen.”

Senior researcher Lee said, “In the case of the United States, a tax credit of up to $1 PTC or 3% ITC is granted per 30 kg of hydrogen production, and tax credits are differentiated according to the level of greenhouse gas emissions.” We disclosed the delegation bill containing the definition of RFNBO, such as hydrogen and ammonia, and the methodology for calculating greenhouse gas emissions, and introduced the threshold setting and additionality of renewable hydrogen.”

In addition, regarding the future direction, he said, “We are continuing to build a standard process DB and LCI DB for calculating emissions, and we are developing operating guidelines for the clean hydrogen certification system.” “Efforts must be made to ensure consistency through cooperation with major countries,” he argued.
