As RUAHLAB Co., Ltd. (CEO Taeyang Lee) prepares to participate in ‘CES 2024’, the world’s largest IT and home appliance exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA in January next year, it plans to launch ‘RUAH (hereinafter referred to as RUAHLAB)’ system was selected for the Innovation Award.
RUAHLAB is a domestic startup whose core value is to improve human health through research and development related to breathing. In accordance with this philosophy, since its establishment last January, we have been researching and developing RUAHLAB, which allows individuals to easily monitor and manage their breathing at home based on a mobile environment, together with faculty from Hanyang University’s College of Engineering and College of Medicine.
Their solution can intensively manage abnormal breathing that impairs sleep quality, such as sleep apnea and snoring, by acquiring and analyzing breathing-related indicators that occur during sleep. The company explains that this ensures clear differentiation from other healthcare solutions, while also enabling management of daily health indicators such as sleep, exercise, and mental health.
The RUAHLAB solution, which consists of a dedicated wearable device and app, maximizes the reliability and usability of data obtained with an AI (artificial intelligence) sleep analysis algorithm. This simple configuration is considered a major advantage in resolving problems such as one-time use and low inconvenience of polysomnography, which is currently recognized as the standard for sleep apnea testing.
A RUAHLABLab official said, “Through continuous and convenient measurement, we can expect the effect of greatly increasing public access to sleep health management and reducing the waste of medical manpower,” adding, “In addition, the wearable device, which boasts high accuracy, can be used in various respiratory-related research. “It can also be used,” he added.
He continued, “While we are currently going through the process of verifying measurement accuracy through a certification evaRUAHLABtion agency, we have achieved the great feat of being selected for the Innovation Award at CES 2024 prior to commercialization. Based on these achievements, we are expanding the RUAHLAB solution in the U.S. market beyond Korea.” “We are preparing for the official launch and pre-order sales later this year,” he added.
