The 2024 Future Innovation Tech Expo (FIX 2024) kicked off on October 23 at Daegu EXCO, bringing together 463 companies and over 2,071 booths in Korea’s largest event of its kind to showcase cutting-edge technologies across fields such as future mobility, robotics, and ABB (AI, Big Data, Blockchain). The expo will run for four days, ending October 26.
Under the theme “Innovative Technology for a Better Future,” FIX 2024 features the latest technologies from global companies, including Tesla, Hyundai Mobis, ABB Korea, SK, and KT. The event also includes an international conference featuring leading experts like Nvidia and RoMeLa, providing a comprehensive look at global innovation trends.
In the EXCO’s East Wing mobility exhibition, attendees can explore electric, hydrogen, and autonomous vehicles, along with key components and infrastructure, from companies like Tesla, Hyundai, Kia, Samsung SDI, GM, and the autonomous vehicle firm Autonomous a2z. In collaboration with SKT, the Korea Airports Corporation, and Hanwha Systems, Daegu has also organized a dedicated UAM (Urban Air Mobility) pavilion, where visitors can experience a life-size UAM simulator provided by SKT.
The West Wing hosts exhibitions on robotics, ABB, and the new Startup Arena. The robotics section includes participation from HD Hyundai Robotics, ABB Korea, Fraunhofer IML, and Bear Robotics. It also marks the Korean debut of RoMeLa’s bipedal robot, ARTEMIS. The ABB section features leading tech companies such as SK, KT, AWS, LVIS, and ESTsoft, alongside an immersive experience with The Sandbox’s Apple Vision Pro and XR gaming content from Skonec Entertainment.
During the opening ceremony, Won Kug Baek, the 2nd Vice Minister for Transport from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, celebrated the launch of FIX 2024, noting, “Congratulations on hosting Daegu’s Future Innovation tech eXpo, a premier platform to witness the current state and innovation of cutting-edge industries. Until last year, separate events were held for future mobility, robotics, and ICT. This year’s integrated expo marks a meaningful milestone. I hope FIX 2024 will evolve to become Korea’s own CES.”
He highlighted the ongoing integration of ICT into all aspects of society, transforming mobility and transport into a consumer-centered paradigm. With ICT and innovative technology advancements, Korea’s transportation policies are shifting from infrastructure expansion to customized mobility services.
Vice Minister Baek emphasized the government’s support, stating, “The government is establishing the legal framework for mobility innovation, including the Mobility Innovation Act, Autonomous Vehicle Act, and UAM Act while promoting pilot projects such as mobility-focused cities, autonomous driving living labs, and UAM pilot programs.”
He praised Daegu’s leadership in future industries, noting, “Daegu is pioneering new industries like future mobility, ABB, and robotics. It launched the nation’s first integrated passenger and logistics autonomous delivery service and developed public UAM service models, enhancing its role as a tech-centered city.”
He concluded, “This expo, with its diverse programs—including exhibitions, international conferences, electric and two-wheeled vehicle test rides—represents a collaborative effort by the government and Daegu to foster advanced technology and new industries. This event will be a vital catalyst, advancing Korea’s mobility industry and enhancing global competitiveness and stature in future high-tech sectors.”
FIX 2024 featured specialized exhibitions, conferences, and business programs focusing on mobility, robotics, AI, and startups. The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024 at EXCO’s East Wing showcased trends in UAM, autonomous driving, batteries, components, and services. Meanwhile, the 2024 ICT Convergence Expo Korea, held in the West Wing, exhibited AI, big data, blockchain, ICT, and metaverse technologies. The 2024 Daegu Robot Expo displayed industrial robots, humanoid robots, and digital transformation solutions for the robotics industry. The “Startup Arena” was introduced to facilitate meetings between startups and experts from startup accelerators like Samsung C-Lab and Plug and Play.
