MOBINN (CEO Jin Choi) participated in the “2024 Future Innovation tech eXpo (FIX 2024)” from October 23 (Wed) to October 26 (Sat) at Daegu EXCO.

As a robotics company specializing in mobility innovation, MOBINN was established in 2022 as a spin-off from Hyundai Motor and has since developed robotic mobility capable of overcoming obstacles. The company develops robots primarily for delivery, patrol, and traffic control, leveraging autonomous driving technology and a proprietary wheel system for excellent performance in complex urban settings.

MOBINN, based in Daegu, is participating in this exhibition as part of the city’s active efforts to promote robotics development and adoption. Supported by Daegu City, MOBINN will showcase its patrol and traffic signal robots at FIX 2024. The company aims to expand development collaborations and achieve diverse business outcomes. MOBINN seeks to promote its technology and explore domestic and international collaboration opportunities.

MOBINN’s patrol robot operates safely and efficiently indoors and outdoors, using autonomous driving technology and obstacle-surmounting capabilities. It contributes to crime prevention and security enhancement and offers real-time monitoring and warning systems via AI, which are expected to reduce minor crime. The robot is easy to maintain, automatically patrols multiple areas, and significantly reduces manpower requirements.

The traffic signal robot also offers a safe alternative to traditional human-operated signal systems, reducing the risk of injury from traffic accidents. This robot autonomously exits vehicles, moves toward its destination, and displays signals as needed. Equipped with a high-visibility screen, it can alert and control traffic situations and respond quickly, improving road safety.

MOBINN developed these patrol and signal robots in response to the need for enhanced safety and efficiency in urban environments. The patrol robot stands out with its proprietary wheel system, which allows it to travel efficiently anywhere. It is designed for autonomous patrols in low-traffic or nighttime areas, addressing manpower shortages and crime prevention. This technology is poised to be critical in environments where safety and security are increasingly prioritized, potentially replacing or supplementing human patrol forces worldwide.

The signal robot, featuring lane-following semi-autonomous driving technology, is designed for easy use. Traditional human-operated signalers carry a high risk of accidents, necessitating an automated solution. MOBINN developed a signal robot to manage traffic signals safely and efficiently, aiming to prevent accidents and enhance road safety.

MOBINN is developing and deploying its robots in collaboration with major domestic construction firms, retailers, police agencies, and public institutions. Focusing on the Korean market, one of the world’s most advanced testbeds, the company plans to expand globally. MOBINN’s capabilities were recognized internationally when it received the Robotics Innovation Award at CES 2024.

A company representative noted, “MOBINN’s initial lineup of robots has been completed. We plan to focus on autonomous service robots (delivery and patrol) and simple sale robots (traffic signal and R&D robots), creating stable sales within the domestic market.”

FIX 2024 featured specialized exhibitions, conferences, and business programs focusing on mobility, robotics, AI, and startups. The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024 at EXCO’s East Wing showcased trends in UAM, autonomous driving, batteries, components, and services. Meanwhile, the 2024 ICT Convergence Expo Korea, held in the West Wing, exhibited AI, big data, blockchain, ICT, and metaverse technologies. The 2024 Daegu Robot Expo displayed industrial robots, humanoid robots, and digital transformation solutions for the robotics industry. The “Startup Arena” was introduced to facilitate meetings between startups and experts from startup accelerators like Samsung C-Lab and Plug and Play.
