The “2024 Future Innovation-tech eXpo” (FIX 2024) concluded successfully, welcoming 133,118 visitors over four days from October 23 (Wed) to October 26 (Sat).
FIX 2024 proved its role as South Korea’s premier innovation technology platform. Under the theme “A Better Future Shaped by Innovation Technology,” the event hosted 463 leading startups and global corporations in 2,071 booths, establishing an ecosystem that will lead future industries. This highlighted Daegu’s position as a pioneering city in new sectors.
FIX: A New Benchmark in Advanced Future Technology
FIX 2024, positioned as an “Integrated Platform for Innovation Technology,” featured cutting-edge advancements in future mobility, robotics, and ABB (AI, Big Data, Blockchain), providing a comprehensive look into the future of industry-shaping technology.
The exhibition halls at EXCO were packed throughout the four days. By the third day, the initial goal of 100,000 visitors had been exceeded, and an unprecedented 133,118 attendees attended. The international conference attracted 81 experts from 13 countries, sparking dynamic discussions on future innovation.
In the East Wing, the Mobility Hall showcased innovative trends, including electric, hydrogen, and autonomous vehicles from global companies such as Tesla, Hyundai, Kia, Samsung SDI, Hyundai Mobis, GM, and KAI. Other exhibitors, like Kumyang, SL Corporation, PHC, and Kyung Chang Industrial, displayed core infrastructure components, including motors, batteries, and electronics.
Tesla’s Cybertruck and Hyundai Mobis’s MOBION, equipped with an e-Corner System, drew considerable attention. At the same time, the UAM Pavilion offered a hands-on experience with Joby Aviation’s UAM simulator, drawing steady crowds.
The West Wing hosted domestic and international robotics leaders like HD Hyundai Robotics and ABB Korea, as well as startups and displays in ABB, AI, Big Data, Blockchain, and semiconductors.
Romela’s next-generation bipedal robot, “ARTEMIS,” demonstrated by Dr. Dennis Hong, captivated visitors. SK, KT, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) showcased the latest cutting-edge technology.
Held from October 23 (Wed) to October 25 (Fri), the conference featured big-tech participants, including NVIDIA, drawing interest from both experts and the general public.
Notable keynote speeches, including “Customer-Centric Design” by Hyundai’s VP Lee Sang-yup, “Future Mobility Spatial Experience” by LG’s Dr. Lee Sang-yong, and “The Closer Future: Humanoid Robotics” by Dr. Dennis Hong, filled the lecture halls.
A Hub for Integrated Innovation Business Networking
The event facilitated business programs such as export consultations, procurement meetings, and investment briefings, marking it “the largest business networking venue” for future technology trends.
The export consultation session, attended by 178 foreign buyers, including GM and Rivian, resulted in 1,636 consultations, achieving a total of $1.945 billion, opening doors to global markets for participating companies.
The procurement session aimed to connect domestic SMEs with major corporations and institutions and involved 52 buyers from Samsung, Hyundai, and others. It resulted in 285 consultations and an estimated total of KRW 65.47 billion.
The Daegu Star Company Pavilion hosted programs such as export consultations and investment IR, including a $5 million export consultation on its opening day.
The Plug and Play Korea Expo, the first domestic event by startup incubator Plug and Play, allowed startups to gain exposure as potential unicorns.
FIX 2024 garnered praise from international media, cementing its status as a leading domestic exhibition for future innovation technology. Eleven global tech media outlets attended the FIX Innovation Awards, reporting on winning companies and their products.
Eleven media outlets, including Japan’s Ayano Tominaga and Hiromi Yuzuki of Gadgetouch, China’s Meng Zhang of Sina, Vietnam’s Hoàng Phuong Trang of Vietnam Plus, Finland’s Alexis Kouros of Helsinki Times, India’s Deepanshu Taumar of ET Auto, and France’s Leo Thevenet of Le Café Du Geek, extensively covered FIX 2024, enhancing its global visibility.
Participating company representatives expressed satisfaction with the expanded scale of exhibitions and the significant turnout of overseas buyers and attendees, describing the exhibition as an opportunity to collaborate and network across various fields.
DGIST also organized technical consultations to support companies with technology challenges, conducting 55 one-on-one consultations for 44 companies.
FIX 2024 showcased Daegu’s position as a leading city in advanced technology, aligned with the global trend toward innovation-driven industry.
Mayor Hong Joon-pyo of Daegu said, “FIX 2024’s success has set the stage for Daegu to emerge as a leader in advanced technology. We aim to make FIX a global platform for sharing new technology, comparable to CES.”
FIX 2024 features specialized exhibitions, conferences, and business programs focusing on mobility, robotics, AI, and startups. The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024 at EXCO’s East Wing will showcase trends in UAM, autonomous driving, batteries, components, and services. Meanwhile, the 2024 ICT Convergence Expo Korea, held in the West Wing, will exhibit AI, big data, blockchain, ICT, and metaverse technologies. The 2024 Daegu Robot Expo will display industrial robots, humanoid robots, and digital transformation solutions for the robotics industry. The “Start-up Arena” will also be newly launched, facilitating meetings between startups and experts from startup accelerators like Samsung C-Lab and Plug and Play.
