Jimbo Robotics Inc. (CEO Sang Cheol Lee) participated in the Future Innovation tech eXpo 2024 (FIX 2024), held from October 23 to 26 at Daegu EXCO, where they introduced their lineup of transport robots.
Founded in 2020, Jimbo Robotics is a venture company founded on the core technology developed by DGIST. It focuses primarily on producing low-cost transport robots. The company aims to lead the “One Person, One Robot” era with robotic products that reduce labor across various applications.
Jimbo Robotics presented its Jimbo robot series based on a simplified positioning algorithm at this exhibition. While most autonomous driving robots rely heavily on sensors and cameras to gather visual data and use AI for stable navigation, Jimbo Robotics uses a simpler location calculation formula. This approach reduces computational demands within the software while maintaining precise indoor positioning without requiring cameras, allowing smooth, autonomous operation even in shadowed indoor areas. This simplicity in components lowers manufacturing costs, setting Jimbo apart in the market.
The Jimbo robot series can handle various load weights and provide stable transport, which is suitable for tasks such as pest control and sanitation. Collaborative robots also minimize labor-intensive risks and enhance workplace safety. They also create employment opportunities for women, older adults, and seniors who might face physical limitations in traditional labor roles.
“Robots that collaborate and interact with humans need to perceive human actions and offer appropriate assistance,” a company representative explained. “Our Jimbo A to Z series can stop or perform specific actions in response to human movement, making it adaptable to any work environment to enhance worker convenience.”
They added, “These collaborative robots can be used extensively in smart farms and smart factories, where they offer excellent price and quality competitiveness. Through the Eureka International Cooperation Project, we also plan to expand our market reach to the EU, including Ireland, the Netherlands, France, and Canada.”
FIX 2024 features specialized exhibitions, conferences, and business programs focusing on mobility, robotics, AI, and startups. The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024 at EXCO’s East Wing will showcase trends in UAM, autonomous driving, batteries, components, and services. Meanwhile, the 2024 ICT Convergence Expo Korea, held in the West Wing, will exhibit AI, big data, blockchain, ICT, and metaverse technologies. The 2024 Daegu Robot Expo will display industrial robots, humanoid robots, and digital transformation solutions for the robotics industry. The “Start-up Arena” will also be newly launched, facilitating meetings between startups and experts from startup accelerators like Samsung C-Lab and Plug and Play.
