MDA Co., Ltd. (CEO Jin Wook Choi) announced its participation in the Future Innovation-tech eXpo 2024 (FIX 2024) at Daegu EXCO from October 23 to 26.
MDA, a startup specializing in visual AI-based solution development, was established in November 2021. It focuses on visual AI development and processing visual data (image, video). The company was recognized as a venture company in August 2022 and received certification for its in-house research institute in February 2023. Additionally, in April 2023, it was certified as a professional research business entity.
Since its inception, MDA has successfully carried out various visual AI development projects, including data processing (text, image, video) and visual AI development for golf training. The company has completed multiple government-supported projects, with one recognized as an exemplary case, and it continues to work on three additional government projects.
MDA’s flagship product, i-Mirror, was co-developed with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and officially launched in August 2024. The company holds four patents related to i-Mirror, two of which have been filed for U.S. patents. Since the latter half of 2023, MDA has showcased i-Mirror at numerous domestic and international exhibitions. It plans to expand its presence at exhibitions throughout 2024 to increase brand awareness and market opportunities.
At FIX 2024, MDA will highlight i-Mirror, a fitness coaching system designed to promote healthy living for seniors. The device uses AI to measure body balance and joint angles, providing personalized exercise content based on the collected data. The system offers AI-driven coaching for rehabilitation exercises tailored to seniors while providing various strength training content suitable for healthy individuals.
Key features of i-Mirror include real-time exercise guidance and the ability for users to monitor and correct their movements visually. The device also boasts space efficiency, with a camera that functions effectively within a range of less than 2 meters.
The on-device AI operates without network connectivity, measuring users’ body balance and joint angles. The large touchscreen display ensures intuitive operation, and when turned off, the i-Mirror doubles as a full-length mirror. Its large display and speakers enhance the user experience by providing clear and detailed information.
MDA explained, “i-Mirror analyzes body balance and joint range of motion to recommend personalized stretching and rehabilitation exercises, helping to improve exercise capacity step-by-step through additional content.”
FIX 2024 will feature specialized exhibitions, conferences, and business programs focusing on mobility, robotics, AI, and startups. The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo 2024 at EXCO’s East Wing will showcase trends in UAM, autonomous driving, batteries, components, and services. Meanwhile, the 2024 ICT Convergence Expo Korea, held in the West Wing, will exhibit AI, big data, blockchain, ICT, and metaverse technologies. The 2024 Daegu Robot Expo will display industrial robots, humanoid robots, and digital transformation solutions for the robotics industry. The “Start-up Arena” will also be newly launched, facilitating meetings between startups and experts from startup accelerators like Samsung C-Lab and Plug and Play.
