Grumpy (CEO Shin Sung-Geol) announced its participation in the ‘2024 PlayX4 B2B’ at KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 in Ilsan from May 23rd to 26th.

Grumpy, founded by three developers who were deeply passionate about story-based console games, started as an independent company in April 2017. It dedicates continuous efforts to PC and console game development. Grumpy aims for modern visual 3D action games using the Unreal Engine and is currently developing its project, ‘DISORDER,’ based on the experience of creating the PS and PC (Steam) versions of its previous work released in 2019.

In 2019, Grumpy worked on art, programming, and planning for the game ‘Dog Fighter-WW2,’ which ranked in the top 7 for basic free game downloads on the Korean PS Store. ‘Dog Fighter-WW2’ has been translated into Korean, Japanese, French, Portuguese, and Spanish and serviced in North America and Asia. In 2021, they supported Technical Art for ‘ANVIL,’ released by Action Square on Xbox/PC. The ongoing ‘DISORDER’ project has been selected for the Korea Content Promotion Institute’s game content support program for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023.

‘DISORDER’ is being developed for Xbox, PS, and PC platforms suitable for current-generation console devices. The project has progressed more than 90% in game development. Grumpy explained that it now requires plans for later processes, such as securing service countries, translations, voice actors, and offline sales channels.

Through their participation in PlayX4, Grumpy plans to introduce ‘DISORDER’ to domestic and international publishers and investors. ‘DISORDER’ is a 3D roguelike action game where players can control three characters and use twelve weapons. Players can switch characters during the game, allowing them to use various actions depending on the situation.

The character ‘Her’ in DISORDER gradually overcomes childhood trauma while uncovering the truth tainted by others’ evil. The player’s journey is about the wounded girl finding her true self.

Grumpy is targeting North America (NA) and Europe, which have the largest market sizes in the console sector. ‘DISORDER’ currently participates in ID@Xbox (Microsoft’s indie developer support program) and hopes to meet more users through various platforms.

Grumpy stated, “Starting with PlayX4, we look forward to participating in overseas exhibitions such as the Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom. Our goal is to finalize content production as soon as possible within a few months and introduce the game to more users.”

Hosted by Gyeonggi Province and organized by Gyeonggi Content Agency the 2024 PlayX4 B2B event will showcase new releases and experiences from domestic and international game companies under the theme “More than the Fun of Games.” The event will also feature side programs such as a retro market, e-sports competitions, and cosplay events.
