Kakao Mobility plans to increase the number of platform-based eco-friendly electric taxis to 10,000 units, including affiliated taxis and pro membership members, within the year. Connecting electric vehicle chargers will also be expanded to 40,000 to build an electric vehicle industry ecosystem.

Kakao Mobility announced on the 29th that it would expand the number of eco-friendly electric taxis distributed mainly through affiliated taxis to 10,000 units within the year, including professional membership members of regular mid-sized taxis.

In January last year, in order to resolve the burden of ‘high prices’, which is the taxi industry’s concern about eco-friendly electric taxis, a business agreement was signed with Kia Motors to ‘promote the distribution of eco-friendly electric vehicles’, thereby ensuring that electric vehicles can be quickly distributed and established in the taxi industry. We have cooperated to ensure that

A Kakao Mobility official said, “We have constantly operated the ‘Electric Taxi Purchase Support Program’ to alleviate the burden of high prices, and we are also making efforts to reduce the inconvenience and burden in the entire process from vehicle selection, purchase, use, and charging.” .

In the future, in order to alleviate the inconvenience of battery management and charging, Kakao Mobility will expand the ‘charging discount card and charging station information’ provided to affiliated taxi drivers who have purchased electric taxis with GS Caltex, and provide information on electric taxi battery performance with LG Energy Solution. We also plan to expand the provision of ‘battery management services’ that can diagnose the back at all times.

According to Kakao Mobility, as of March, 2,000 franchise taxis were converted to electric taxis. This is about 30% of the total electric taxis (7,000 units) registered on Kakao T. Kakao Mobility aims to expand the number of platform-based electric taxi users to 10,000 within the year by promoting the conversion of franchise taxis and professional membership users to electric taxis. To this end, the plan is to participate in the government’s policy to revitalize the distribution of electric vehicles by continuously exploring ways to provide electric taxi sales support solutions through the platform and electrify corporate taxis.

In addition, Kakao Mobility will expand and connect electric vehicle chargers to 40,000 units within the year through partnerships with the government, public enterprises, and private charging operators. Kakao Mobility has secured approximately 32,000 chargers nationwide as of March through partnerships with governments and public enterprises such as the Ministry of Environment, and private charging operators such as Daeyoung Chaevi, Everon, and Chargebi, and provides them through Kakao Navi and Kakao T app. I’m doing it.

In addition to expanding the electric vehicle charging infrastructure, we will continue to expand smart functions for electric vehicle drivers and prospective owners. ▲Kakao T point payment ▲Electric vehicle subsidy inquiry function has been additionally introduced, and in the future, functions such as ▲optimal route to charging station location ▲charger failure information ▲charger reservation will be sequentially introduced to improve accessibility and use of electric vehicle charging infrastructure through the platform. The plan is to increase convenience.

Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-seon said, “As one electric taxi can reduce carbon dioxide equivalent to 10 tons per year, we expect to contribute to creating an eco-friendly ecosystem by promoting the spread of electric vehicles.” He added, “We will continue to cooperate with leading companies and government agencies. “We will contribute to realizing carbon neutrality by increasing the convenience required for using electric vehicles in all aspects, such as infrastructure accessibility and specialized services for electric vehicle drivers, so that electric vehicles can be more active based on the platform.”
