POSCO ICT announced on the 21st that it has operated the ‘AI Robot Challenge School Program’ in which students play soccer games with AI (artificial intelligence) robots with elementary school students in the Seongnam area.
The ‘AI Robot Volunteer Group’, comprised of POSCO ICT employees, worked with elementary school students in the Seongnam area the previous day to produce an AI soccer robot controlled through motion. Through the program, students divided into teams and played a soccer game using AI soccer robots they had created themselves.
“The importance of IT convergence education that combines software and hardware such as AI and robots is being emphasized, but there is a lack of opportunities to receive or experience proper education,” said Kim Ji-yeon, a professional at POSCO ICT’s Corporate Citizenship Secretariat. “This is a blind spot in education.” “We planned the program to provide related programs to underprivileged children and help them develop their dreams of robots and AI, and it was rewarding to see the participating children happily participating,” he said.
Meanwhile, in celebration of ‘Global Model Citizen Week’, a volunteer week in which all POSCO Group executives and employees participate, POSCO ICT conducts conservation activities for the rare plant ‘Heirey’, electrical repair service for the underprivileged, coding education for children from the underprivileged, and underwater extinction risk activities. We are carrying out various volunteer activities in each region, such as skin scuba activities to protect species.
