Kakao’s content publishing platform Brunch announced that it has published 10 grand prize-winning works from the ‘9th Brunch Book Publishing Project’ as books.

A total of 6,000 brunch books were submitted to the ‘9th Brunch Book Publishing Project’, which was conducted from September to October last year, a 58% increase from the previous year. Among these, 10 partner publishers, including ‘Literature Village’, ‘Wisdom House’, and ‘Minumsa’, selected a total of 10 grand prize works, one each, and published them as books.

The grand prize works are ▲My House, My Money, My Mountain (Kim Ok-jin, Flow Publishing) ▲Introduction to Women’s Baseball (Kim Ip-moon, Wisdom House) ▲Consumption Fasting Diary (Seo Park-ha, Humanist (A Room of One’s Own)) ▲A Small, Unique Misfortune (Oh Ji-yoon, RH Korea) ▲Words from the call center (Lee Ye-eun, Minumsa) ▲Hello, I am self-employed (Lee In-ae, Munhakdongne) ▲Raw eating disorder (Jung Yu-ri, Buki) ▲Fresh Things Diary (Jingoroho, Across) ▲Some words of appeal (Choi Eun-sook, Changbi) ▲Save me and love me (Hyun Yo-ah, Hummingbird).

Brunch is holding a special exhibition to commemorate the publication. <The Birth of a New Writer: An Exhibition of 10 Winners of the 9th Brunch Book Publishing Project> will be held in the ‘Dignity’ section of Kyobo Bookstore’s Gwanghwamun branch until the 19th of next month. The exhibition includes an introduction to the artist and a description of the work to help you understand the work. 17 Kyobo Bookstore stores across the country are also holding an event where they will receive a brunch mouse pad when purchasing a winning book.

The Brunch Book Publishing Project is a publishing contest that Brunch has been running every year since 2015 to support writers who dream of publishing. The 10 grand prize winners will each receive a prize of 5 million won, and will be provided with the opportunity to publish books through leading domestic publishers and benefit from marketing support. To date, the number of winners of the Brunch Book Publishing Project has reached 276 and 289 winning works.

A Brunch official said, “We are happy that the brunch works that were selected over high competition rates have been published as paper books amid the enthusiasm for participation that is getting hotter with each successive round.” He added, “The 10th Brunch Book Publishing Project, which will be held from the end of August, will be held with 10 grand prize winners. “We plan to select 40 people for special awards and discover a total of 50 artists, so please show your interest,” he said.
