Wemade’s partner Metascale unveiled the XR messenger service ‘Bagel’ and BI (Brand Identity), which are being developed, for the first time.
Bagel is an extended reality (XR, eXtended Reality) service that aims for a messenger-centered metaverse. It was developed with the concept of ‘be more like yourself, anytime, anywhere, safe and fun conversation, and a hangout with friends.’ Users can create an avatar connected to their real self and communicate with friends. By applying face and motion recognition technology, you can create your own facial expressions and movements.
Based on blockchain technology, Bagel plans to introduce a P&E (Play&Earn) model in which users and creators benefit as they enjoy the service. It is also onboarded to Wemade’s blockchain mainnet ‘WEMIX3.0’.
Seung-jo Kwon, CEO of Metascale, said, “We named the service and designed the BI because the shape of the bagel is reminiscent of a black hole, a gateway to the metaverse, and a teleport that connects friends to the metaverse.” He added, “It can be used for various purposes while maintaining the essence of a messenger.” “We will provide flexible and future-oriented services that bring joy and enjoyment.”
Bagel will first begin service in Japan in October. Prior to this, we plan to first launch a closed beta service in September.
Meanwhile, Metascale is a startup founded by CEO Seung-jo Kwon, who served as head of Freechal and Naver Design Center, CEO of NHN Arts, CEO of Kakao IX, and Kakao CIPO (Chief IP Officer). We are preparing a bagel service centered on personnel who were in charge of development and business at leading domestic IT companies. It attracted investment from Wemade in August last year.
Detailed information about Metascale and Bagel can be found on the official site.
