AhnLab said that it is practicing environmental management by actively introducing eco-friendly elements in various ways at recent large and small events and minimizing event waste emissions.
At ‘AhnLab ISF 2022’, an integrated security strategy conference held offline for the first time in three years last September, the main structures of the event venue were made of recyclable paper materials and the use of paper brochures was reduced. AhnLab produced major structures such as the speaker’s podium, registration table, exhibition booth, and event zone inside the event venue by changing the existing woodworking method to ‘honeycomb board’, an eco-friendly paper material that produces less waste and is recyclable.
Additionally, the use of existing paper brochures has been significantly reduced. At the exhibition booth where not only the company but also its subsidiaries and investment companies demonstrated key solutions and services and provided consultations, AhnLab reduced the amount of paper brochures and placed QR codes that provide detailed product information. This minimized paper use and event waste emissions while also improving information accessibility for users.
At the 13th Seongnam City Youth Creative Science Festival 『I Green Science!』 held in the same month, an environmentally conscious IT and security experience booth was operated. At the coding experience booth (Coding class with AhnLab! I am a programmer too), AhnLab combined environmental education such as waste separation and marine waste with programming.
In the morning program in which 4th to 6th grade elementary school students participated, they learned about the necessity of separating and recycling waste and created artificial intelligence recycling bins. In the afternoon, first to third grade middle school students learned about the seriousness of marine debris and then programmed a game to catch marine debris such as cans, plastic bags, and plastics in the ‘I am the king of marine debris fishing!’ program.
AhnLab created the photo zone and life-size stand of the security experience booth (a strangely immersive five-year-old world) that it operated together with honeycomb board, which is easy to recycle, and used reusable beam projectors and digital displays instead of printed materials. In addition, the cards needed to solve the mission were produced using FSC-certified printing paper and soybean oil ink, and those who completed the mission were entered into a lottery to receive ‘Donggu Field Gardening Soap’ made from eco-friendly crops.
“We are making attempts to consider environmental impacts in many of the events held by AhnLab,” said Inchi-beom Inch, managing director of AhnLab’s sustainability management team. “Even if there is some trial and error, we can achieve ‘zero waste’ in various business areas, including events.” “I will do my best to make it happen,” he said.
Meanwhile, AhnLab uses ‘Every Little Detail’ as its catchphrase and strives to ensure that all of AhnLab’s business activities have a positive impact on the environment. Last July, we acquired ISO14001 certification, an international standard for environmental management systems, by establishing and implementing an environmental management system.
