The Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as the Gyeonggi Innovation Center), the operating organization of the Pangyo Startup Zone, announced that it successfully held the ‘8th Startup 815’ held in the Startup Zone.
The Startup Zone was established in 2017 by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to intensively foster promising entrepreneurs in new industries, and is the largest startup support cluster in Korea operated by the Korea Startup Agency and the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center.
On this day, the Gyeonggi Innovation Center and the Korea Information Security Industry Association (KISIA) collaborated to conduct a global track that hopes to expand into the global market and attract investment, a scale-up track that supports investments above Pre-A, and a jump-up track that supports investments above Seed. It was conducted on a total of three tracks.
The companies selected for each track were promising companies in Gyeonggi-do and had IR pitching and networking sessions to attract investment.
In the global track, companies selected for the K-Startup Grand Challenge include ▲Nusa Motors, a company that develops and produces various two-wheeled electric vehicles ranging from scooters to superbikes, ▲Koralo, a vegan fish substitute meat ▲mycoprotein technology. ‘Mycovation’, which produces food such as mixes, meat substitutes, and extracts, participated and presented its core technology and vision through IR pitching in English.
Startup Junkie participated on-site as a reviewer, and foreign VC reviewers who discover and invest in promising Korean startups, such as Cadron Capital Partners and 541 Ventures, participated online.
The scale-up track includes ▲ ‘NOpen’, a facial recognition seal authentication solution using a security card ▲ ‘Astron Security’, an integrated security solution combining multi-cloud API and agent ▲ Commercialization of data encryption and decryption modules and semiconductor chips and application products and services’ PSDL’ participated and introduced its core technology and vision.
Professional VC judges including Etri Holdings, KB Investment, Star Ventures, Hana Ventures, and Platinum Technology Investment participated as judges.
In the jump-up track, ▲customized clinical trial data information provision solution ‘Media I Plus Co., Ltd.’ ▲digital image security ‘Data Kobold’ ▲artificial intelligence-based next-generation security platform ‘CTI Lab’ announced.
Professional AC judges such as AhnLab, Big Bang Angels, and Big Basin Capital participated as judges.
After the companies’ IR pitching, feedback from investment experts was provided, and follow-up networking continued for practical investment connections.
Meanwhile, the Startup 815 program operated by the Gyeonggi Innovation Center is held every Thursday at the Pangyo Startup Zone under the subheadings of Startup 815, NEXT, and SEED for the purpose of discovering excellent companies at each company level and stimulating investment.
