Nexon Co., Ltd. announced that it won six awards, including the President’s Award, at the ‘2022 Korea Game Awards’ held at the BEXCO Convention Hall in Busan.
First, ‘Dungeon & Fighter Mobile (hereinafter referred to as Dungeon & Fighter Mobile)’ developed by subsidiary Neople was selected as the best game representing the year and received the President’s Award (Grand Prize). Nexon repeated the honor of receiving the grand prize for the fourth time in history, following ‘Mabinogi Heroes’ in 2010, ‘HIT’ in 2016, and ‘V4’ in 2020.
‘Dungeon & Fighter’ is a mobile RPG based on ‘Dungeon & Fighter’, Nexon’s representative IP and the icon of ‘K-Games’ with 850 million global users. ‘Dunpa Mobile’, which was released on March 24th of this year with the slogan ‘Action Pleasure’, has established a new era in the gaming market by being recognized for its excellent control and using belt-scrolling manual combat.
It has received great praise for its differentiation strategy of reinterpreting the intellectual property rights (IP) of the masterpiece and establishing the originality of Dunpa Mobile, as well as its user-friendly game design optimized for the mobile environment. After launch, the company has focused on stable service operation and independent content development, maintaining its top ranking in sales in the game market.
Neople Director Myeong-jin Yoon said, “All of Neople’s developers have been working hard for a long time to incorporate the expanded world view of the original ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ and technology optimized for the mobile platform into ‘Dungeon & Fighter Mobile’.” He added, “Adventurers are supporting us. In addition, ‘HIT2’, developed by Nexon Games, received an Excellence Award in recognition of its overwhelming scale of siege warfare and large-scale field battles. It introduced unique content never before seen in the MMORPG genre, such as ‘Altar of the Coordinator’ and ‘Creator Sponsorship Program’, and caused a stir by ranking first in sales and popularity in both major markets after its launch.
In addition, ‘Blue Archive’, an icon of the subculture genre, won three awards, including the Popular Game Award, the Technology and Creation Award in the character category, and the Outstanding Developer Award. It gained great popularity for its immersive story and charming characters that unfold in Academy City, and on November 1st, to commemorate the first anniversary of the service, it was the first Korean game to display an outdoor advertisement at One Times Square in New York, USA.
Meanwhile, Neople also received the Social Contribution Excellence Award in recognition of its contribution to various social contribution activities, such as supporting vulnerable groups in the local community and taking the lead in environmental protection every year. In March of this year, Neople provided rapid antigen test kits to local children’s centers in Jeju Island, where its headquarters are located, and in July, it also carried out a project to support eco-friendly biodegradable bags at Jeju Dongmun Traditional Market.
