‘LetinAR’, which develops the core optical system of AR glasses, received the CES 2023 Innovation Award for ‘KEPLAR’, a product using its own plastic optical technology. In just one year, we developed an augmented reality optical system that is 4 times wider and 9 times clearer, and achieved the award for two consecutive years in 2022.
LetinAR is a startup established in October 2016 and is developing the optical system of AR glasses with its own technology. With its differentiated technology, it succeeded in attracting Series B investment, which was unusual in the domestic AR/VR hardware field, and grew into a leading company. The cumulative investment that LetinAR has attracted from Naver D2SF and numerous domestic and foreign investors amounts to approximately 17.1 billion won.
In particular, LetinAR has been attracting attention from the industry by successfully mass producing AR optical systems made of ultra-light binocular plastic for the first time in the world starting in 2022. Compared to glass AR optics, the plastic AR optical system is receiving good reviews for its ▲60% lighter weight, ▲efficient mass production, ▲comfortable fit like regular glasses, and ▲high stability.
This year, LetinAR significantly improved the performance of the plastic AR optical system and received the Innovation Award in the Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality category at CES 2023 for the AR glass ‘KEPLAR’ using this for two consecutive years. Compared to the winning product in 2022, it is characterized by ▲4 times larger viewing angle ▲9 times higher resolution ▲3 times larger lens ▲up to 8 times more usage time than competitors, expressing clearer and more immersive augmented reality content. At the same time, usability has also been greatly improved with the natural sunglasses-shaped design.
“The new pin mirror lens mounted on KEPLAR is a next-generation strategic product that will drive sales growth in 2023 based on its powerful performance,” said Kim Jae-hyuk, CEO of LetinAR. “We plan to achieve annual sales of 2 billion won this year, and this CES “We will stand tall as a key company in the global metaverse market by introducing new products,” he said.
Yang Sang-Hwan, leader of Naver D2SF, who has continued to make strategic investments in LetinAR from seed to Series B round, said, “LetinAR has achieved substantial business results in the U.S. and Europe, while also succeeding in developing next-generation products with significantly improved performance.” “With CES as an opportunity, we expect to once again solidify our position as a leading AR hardware company on the global stage.”
Meanwhile, LetinAR plans to set up its own booth at CES 2023 to showcase the actual plastic AR optical system and continue discussions on collaboration with global companies and investors.
