Kakao Corporate Foundation Kakao Impact (Chairman Beomsoo Kim) is launching Season 1 of the ‘Kakao Impact Fellowship’, which supports social innovators working to create a better world as its first project this year.

The Kakao Impact Fellowship (hereinafter referred to as the Fellowship) is a project that selects and supports various ‘social innovators’ such as social ventures, media, non-profit organizations, activists, and researchers with the goal of creating social impact through investment in people. The fellowship began with an initiative by the Kakao Impact Board of Directors in November 2019, and planning began in earnest in 2020 and went through the selection process. External experts participated in the fellow selection process from recommendation to final selection to ensure objectivity and diversity.

On this day, Kakao Impact revealed the 11 social innovators selected as Kakao Impact Fellowship Season 1 fellows on its website. The fellowship will be conducted on a seasonal basis and is planned to grow in size as a core business of Kakao Impact.

The 11 selected fellows will be supported with an activity fee of 2 million won per month for two years so that they can consistently and stably immerse themselves in their activities. In addition, we plan to utilize various promotional channels inside and outside of Kakao to inform more people about valuable causes. We also support network formation so that various experts and innovators can communicate and grow together.

Fellows are selected based on a recommendation system through a referral network. The first round of candidates are recommended through the Kakao Impact Board of Directors and a recommendation network comprised of more than 30 leaders from various fields, and the final selection is made through a separate selection committee. Even if you are not a recommending committee member, anyone can make a recommendation through the Kakao Impact website, and you can also nominate yourself.

Season 2 is scheduled to be selected in the second half of the year and aims to support up to 30 social innovators per year.

Meanwhile, Kakao Impact is a social contribution foundation established in April 2018 to contribute to solving social problems and spread a culture of public interest by utilizing Kakao’s technological foundation and influence. In 2018, we carried out creator support projects such as ‘Creator’s Studio’ and ‘Creator’s Day’, and in 2019, we carried out positive social changes such as ‘100up’, a problem definition platform, and ‘Project 100’, which solves social problems through changes in lifestyle habits. presented a user-participatory platform that can bring about.
