Naver Co., Ltd. (CEO Han Seong-sook)’s music streaming service ‘VIBE’ has joined hands with ‘Dolby Laboratories’, a leading global video and audio entertainment company, to launch a music streaming service using ‘Dolby Atmos’ technology. The ‘Dolby Atmos Music’ service was officially launched on June 1 for the first time among domestic music platforms.
Dolby Atmos Music Service is a service that allows you to listen to music produced using Dolby’s sound technology ‘Dolby Atmos’. Dolby Atmos is a technology that accurately places and transmits sound according to movement within a three-dimensional space, including the space above the head, providing perfect immersion by expressing all the details of the sound as intended. The core audio technology of Dolby Atmos, used in movies and TV, is expanded to music.
Android-based Vive app users can use the Dolby Atmos music service in the ‘Dolby Atmos’ category added to the search tab within Vive. If you have a Naver Vibe music subscription, you can use the service without additional fees until the end of this year. Vibe currently services approximately 500 Dolby Atmos music songs, and aims to provide more than 2,000 songs within the year.
Meanwhile, Vibe provides differentiated services through advancement of AI-based music recommendation technology. Based on AI technology, Vibe creates a playlist that suits the user’s tastes and provides a ‘next song recommendation’ service that matches the playback context. In addition, it is diversifying its competitiveness not only through sound sources but also through various audio and entertainment contents by providing replays (AOD) and video on demand (VOD) of Naver’s live entertainment show ‘NOW.’.
Lee Tae-hoon, head of Naver Music Service, said, “With the introduction of this service, you will be able to enjoy an advanced music listening experience through the Dolby Atmos Music service on Naver Vibe.”
Lee Sang-ho, head of sales at Dolby Korea, said, “Dolby is building an ecosystem where consumers around the world can enjoy improved entertainment experiences ranging from music, movies, and games,” adding, “The collaboration with Naver will provide Korean music fans with a higher level of entertainment.” “We are very pleased to be able to provide a high-quality Dolby Atmos music service.”
Vibe plans to exclusively release ‘Blackpink’s’ Dolby Atmos Live album sound source in line with the official launch date of the Dolby Atmos music service on June 1st. It is a live sound source that captures the live heat and emotion of Blackpink’s live stream concert ‘YG PALM STAGE – 2021 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW’, and you can enjoy the rich band sound and vivid realism in the vibe.
