Kakao (Co-CEOs Yeo Min-soo and Jo Soo-yong) announced on the 15th that it will introduce ‘Give-ticon’, which allows users to practice sharing through the purchase of emoticons, together with global artist BTS. Giveicon is a mobile sponsorship product in which Kakao donates a portion of the purchase price when a user purchases an emoticon. Since its debut in 2016, it has been released 12 times through collaboration with various writers and artists. This is BTS’ second participation, and in 2018, they achieved a donation of 100 million won in 4 weeks.

This Giveicon is the second part of ‘LOVE MYSELF’, which was conducted in 2018, and contains the purpose of loving yourself first and making the world a better place with that love. It consists of 24 actual images of BTS, and can be purchased by searching for ‘BTS, LOVE MYSELF 2’ in the emoticon store. Kakao will donate 300 won for every Giveicon sold for four weeks from the 15th to July 12th. Giveicon sales will continue after four weeks, and BTS plans to donate all profits earned through this Giveticon.

In addition, a three-month campaign will be held on Kakao’s social contribution platform ‘Kakao Together Value’. You can directly donate the amount you want through the campaign’s fundraising box, and Kakao will donate an additional 100 won per participating ID just by writing a comment in support of the campaign or sharing it on social media.

The donations collected in this way will be donated to the ‘LOVE MYSELF’ project created by BTS and will be used for #ENDviolence, UNICEF’s global campaign to eradicate violence against children and youth. This is a campaign launched to help children and youth around the world grow up safely in a world without violence. It protects and supports children and youth around the world who have been harmed by domestic violence, school violence, and sexual violence, and contributes to education to prevent violence in the community. aims to Detailed results of donation use can be confirmed through the ‘Kakao Together Value’ fundraising review, and reviews are sent via KakaoTalk message to users who participated in the donation.

A Kakao official said, “We hope that users will participate in donations for children and youth around the world through Giveticon,” adding, “We will continue to provide opportunities to experience sharing in an easy way like Giveticon and participate in the mobile donation culture.” “I plan to work hard,” he said.
