HD Hyundai Global Service (CEO Lee Ki-dong) participated in the ’23rd International Shipbuilding and Marine Industry Exhibition (KORMARINE 2023)’ held at BEXCO in Busan for 4 days from Tuesday, October 24 to Friday, October 27. revealed.
HD Hyundai Global Service is a marine solutions company that provides total services related to maintenance, repair, remodeling, and upgrading of all hardware and software after the ship is built. We provide basic ship and engine parts for a variety of large-scale ships, including ships built by HD Hyundai Group and HD Hyundai Group’s own licensed engines.
In addition, we provide ship and engine modifications to upgrade to eco-friendly ships, turnkey equipment modifications to respond to environmental regulations, control and software digital solutions for the era of eco-friendly and unmanned operation, and ship operation port services through bunkering.
At this exhibition, HD Hyundai Global Service introduced the ‘Ocean Wise’ solution, which supports response to environmental regulations based on AI technology. The Oceanwise solution monitors carbon dioxide emissions based on AI technology and data analysis, can predict each route, ensures visibility into greenhouse gas emissions, and provides navigation guidance to operate the fleet effectively.
An official at HD Hyundai Global Service said, “Because ship performance estimation is core domain knowledge, there is no differentiation in accuracy based on ship manufacturing experience. In addition, because it is based on an algorithm, it is groundbreaking in that it does not require the installation of physical devices or other investments for Ocean Wise,” he said. “The results can be used in various forms, so it can be applied to the existing system of the customer.” “That is also a strength,” he explained.
He added, “Within the HD Hyundai Group, which has a position as a global leading company in the construction of large ships, we have the distinction of providing all total care services that occur after the ship is built,” adding, “Ocean Wise is a company that provides big data and AI. It is a solution appropriate for the era in which technology is advancing. He emphasized, “Through unmanned navigation and environmental regulation response solutions, we can expand and convert all participants in the marine logistics ecosystem chain into potential customers in the manufacturing sector, which uses existing ship owners as customers.”
Currently, Oceanwise Solutions is carrying out various demonstration projects at home and abroad with the goal of commercialization in the first half of 2024. Regarding this, an official said, “A representative project is the ‘Steel, Shipbuilding, and Shipping ESG Cooperation Promotion Business Agreement with POSCO Group.’ Four domestic shipping companies, including POSCO Group, H Line, SM Daehan Shipping, Pan Ocean, and Polaris, use the Oceanwise solution to secure carbon emissions visibility and provide navigation guide support to reduce carbon emissions through the POSCO logistics management system. “Installation and development are underway,” he said. “In addition, Singapore shipping company EPS is participating as an overseas demonstration customer.”
“We plan to complete the verification by the end of this year and work to increase the accuracy and effectiveness of the solution,” he said. “Once we commercialize the Oceanwise solution in the first half of next year, we will provide customized services to our customers. “We also plan to secure an independent solution provision platform to increase customer accessibility and secure the versatility of the solution,” he said.
