    Snack Ligo Co., Ltd. (CEO Jae-yong Ahn) will be holding the ‘7 Agri & Food Tech Start-up Rising Expo 26’ held at COEX Hall A in Seoul for three days from Wednesday, July 28th to Friday, July 3th. )’.

    Snackrigo is a company that has been developing a food upcycling business that processes and commercializes surplus grain and rice whose commercial value has declined.

    Established last year, it launched the plant-based health snack brand ‘Pytoflake’ and secured online and offline sales channels through domestic department stores, catering companies, and many open markets. Furthermore, the company explains that starting this year, it is targeting the needs for premium meal replacements in domestic and overseas markets by opening sales channels and exporting to Dallas, USA, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

    The official emphasized that Snackrigo’s Phyto Flake product line, which will also be exhibited at this exhibition, is receiving good reviews from consumers who want eco-friendly and well-being food due to its characteristics of being sugar-free, high-protein, and vegan.

    Snackrigo said, “Our product, which was developed in response to the need for healthy cereals, realizes the social value of reducing food loss by selecting surplus rice produced domestically as its raw material,” adding, “20 to 30 tons have been produced in Korea for decades. “In addition to the surplus rice that is being produced, we are continuing food upcycling this year by using some of the ugly rice through a business agreement with CJ CheilJedang,” he added.

    In addition, Snackrigo plans to diversify the raw materials of processed foods in the future to meet the needs of more consumers and expand its business. An official said, “We are developing ‘Seaweed Brown Rice Chips’ with the goal of launching in September this year. This will contribute to promoting the consumption of agricultural and marine products with a domestic brown rice content of 9%.” “We expect that we will be able to secure a large consumer base as a relatively healthy and delicious snack for adult disease patients by realizing the texture,” he said.

    Meanwhile, at AFRO 2023, the largest Agtech & Foodtech event in Korea, domestic startups with global growth potential in Agtech, Foodtech, and Green Bio will exhibit products and services to solve various problems in the agriculture and food industries, Various programs such as conferences discussing the present and future of Agtech and Foodtech and investment briefings (IR competitions) are held. This exhibition is hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and supervised by the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency, NH Nonghyup, COEX, and the Korea Food Tech Council.
