Aimmed Co., Ltd. (CEO Jin-hwan Lim) participated in the ‘6 International Advanced Medical Equipment and Medical Industry Exhibition (KOAMEX 30)’ held at EXCO in Daegu for three days from June 7 (Fri) to July 2 (Sun).

AIMMED is a professional company that has been steadily conducting business in the healthcare field since 1999. Since then, with the slogan ‘Healthcare for Life’ at the forefront, it has focused on developing a digital healthcare system with a will to improve the quality of life through health.

Recently, while investing in the field of Digital Therapeutics, it developed ‘Somzz’, a digital treatment device that improves insomnia, and obtained permission for ‘the first digital treatment device in Korea’ from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Digital Therapeutics refers to software-based therapy designed for the purpose of preventing, managing, and treating medical disorders or diseases, and the ultimate goal is to make the software itself exert the same efficacy as medicine.

Digital therapeutics can be used in parallel with or independently of traditional treatment methods such as medicines and medical devices. In particular, it can replace or assist drug treatment for mental disorders such as depression and insomnia, and is more effective than conventional treatment in the field of behavior correction such as smoking cessation. It is known to have the potential to be presented as an efficient and effective alternative.

AIMMED has implemented face-to-face CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), known as the primary standard treatment for insomnia, in the form of a mobile app called ‘Somzz’ so that it can proceed without time and space limitations.

Somzz is a software implemented by applying the insomnia cognitive behavioral therapy protocol (stimulus control method, sleep restriction method, sleep habit education method, relaxation therapy and cognitive therapy method) to a mobile app as a systematic algorithm, providing users with real-time feedback for behavioral intervention and education. It has the ability to provide and deliver push notifications. Through the 6-9 week process of Somzz, patients increase sleep efficiency and improve insomnia.

Currently, Aimmed’s Somzz has completed both software development and clinical trials and has even received medical device approval as a digital treatment device. As we are finishing some realistic procedures, including the cost of living, it is hoped that soon many people suffering from insomnia will find a new alternative to improve their symptoms without resorting to sleeping pills alone.
