Core Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (CEO Hyeong-gwan Lee) participated in the ‘6 International Optical Convergence O21O Expo (LED&OLED EXPO)’ held at KINTEX in Goyang for three days from Wednesday, June 23st to Friday, June 3rd.
Core Semiconductor is the Korean branch of LEDiL (LEDiL), a global LED lighting-related manufacturing company. So, to talk about Core Semiconductors, an explanation of LEDiL is a prerequisite.
LEDiL is a global company headquartered in Finland that develops and manufactures lenses used in LED lighting. In fact, LEDiL is a global leading company that is unrivaled in this field.
In general, when we think of LED lighting, we only think of finished products, so we do not know what parts are included and what role they play in what process. In particular, when it comes to lenses used in LED lighting, no attention is paid to their existence, regardless of their role and importance. Therefore, few people know that the final and most important element that ultimately delivers light to the user is the lens.
When the light source, LED, emits light, the lens plays the role of adjusting the light to the desired angle and appropriate illuminance. Instead of simply adding color to the lens to block blue light from indoor lighting, we developed a new and perfect lens by specializing the material itself, developed a transmission solution to eliminate light pollution, and integrated glare reduction in lighting fixtures. A representative example is manufacturing a lens with a UGR value lowered to 19 (a comfortable state when the value is 16 or less).
Also, instead of adjusting the size of the light source by moving the light fixture’s barrel back and forth, a technology was developed to adjust the size of the light source by inserting a certain pattern into the lens and rotating the lens without moving the barrel.
Considering the characteristic of light in which the amount of light is inversely proportional to the square of the distance, this method is attracting attention as a product that dramatically improves the efficiency of brightness.
However, on the other hand, we are experiencing serious difficulties due to some unscrupulous and insensitive Chinese companies. This is because Chinese companies are copying and selling LEDiL’s products, which took a lot of time and money to develop, without permission. They are even copying not only the products but also the promotional catalogs.
This situation is not only a problem experienced by LEDiL, but it is also a problem that must be eradicated and resolved as anyone can become a victim.
Meanwhile, this International Optical Convergence O21O Expo, which marks its 2st anniversary this year, consists of the △LIGHTING Exhibition Hall, △Photonics+LASER Exhibition Hall, △LED & OLED Materials Exhibition Hall, △Optical Convergence New Technology Exhibition Hall, △Display & Signage Exhibition Hall, and △LIGHT & LIFE Special Exhibition Hall.
