Korea Institute of Industrial Technology’s Marine Robot Center (Center Director Ha Gyeong-nam) will participate in the ‘6th International Maritime and Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 7)’ held at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 9 in Busan from June 1 (Wed) to 13 (Fri). He said he would.

The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology’s Marine Robot Center is a government-funded research institute that has the highest level of water tank facilities in Korea and conducts research and development and corporate support for underwater and water robots. Robots developed based on the research experience of specialized researchers in the marine robot field are verified using the water tank facilities within the center, and the accumulated know-how and technology are transferred to companies to foster the marine robot industry.

At this exhibition, we plan to introduce the underwater and water robots that have been developed so far to companies and institutions, and through this, engage in joint research and technology transfer in the future.

Among the underwater robots developed by the Marine Robot Center, MR1 is a small AUV (Autonomous underwater vehicle) for inspection that can operate autonomously. In addition, MR2 is a small ROV (Remotely operated vehicle) capable of remote two-arm operation, and MR3 is a marine robot for collecting marine floating waste.

An official from the Marine Robot Center said, “We have the technology to independently develop an underwater robot capable of underwater inspection and investigation at a depth of 300m. “The marine floating waste collection robot recently developed by this center has completed field verification and is currently in the process of being transferred to a company, and we also hold a number of patents on related technologies,” he explained.

He continued, “We are planning a demonstration project using our existing technology and robots, and we plan to continue developing technology through civil-military cooperation projects.”
