FiberPro (CEO Yeonwan Ko) announced that it will participate in the ‘6th International Maritime and Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 7)’ held at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 9 in Busan from Wednesday, June 1th to Friday, June 13th.
FiberPro Co., Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of optical measurement and sensors with the vision of ‘creating new value through new technology.’ Since starting business in 1995, most of the products based on new concepts and unique technologies have contributed greatly to the world’s optical communications and optical sensors, the official explains. We provide solutions to special problems or requirements faced by customers based on our abundant experience and technology, and all products are produced under strict quality control in accordance with ISO9001. As a leader in optical measurement and sensors, we are growing into a company with cutting-edge technology and numerous patents.
This exhibition displays a Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG), which measures the rotational motion of a rotating body, and a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), a device that measures the acceleration and rotational motion of a moving object. We plan to promote it.
In particular, it provides an optical fiber-based inertial sensor, which boasts high performance, resistance to electromagnetic waves, and a long lifespan. FiberPro explained that it is essential hardware for unmanned and automated vehicles such as unmanned submarines, ships, and drones, and that as a light-based sensor manufacturer, it has secured excellent price competitiveness compared to sensors of the same performance.
Tactical Grade FOG (Fiber Optic Gyroscope) was developed for the purpose of stabilizing the posture of marine weapon systems and communication devices. Inertial measurement devices are used as core components of inertial navigation systems and are applied to underwater weapon systems such as ROV and AUV and various naval and coast guard vessels. In particular, since GPS reception is not possible underwater, there is a high dependence on the sensor’s own performance, and accordingly, the demand for FOG-type gyro sensors is high.

A FiberPro official said, “It has been applied to various ground systems, and in the marine field, we have supplied inertial measurement devices for navigation systems for ROVs and AUVs to several domestic defense companies. Although it was a business field that was close to 100% dependent on overseas imports, by supplying the independently developed FOG type Tactical Grade inertial measurement device, it is expected that domestically produced products will provide opportunities to participate in various businesses in the future. “Overseas, we plan to pioneer export routes using the advantages of price competitiveness, delivery, and performance.”
Meanwhile, MADEX 2023 is a ‘defense exhibition and government subsidy-supported exhibition (Korea Defense Industry Promotion Association)’ for publicity and export promotion of defense and export companies.
