PI International (CEO Noh Il-sik) participated in ‘KOBA 5 (16st International Broadcasting, Media, Sound and Lighting Exhibition)’ held at COEX in Seoul from Tuesday, May 19th to Friday, May 2023th.

PI International, established in 1997, is a company that provides a variety of hardware, software, and consulting services based on long-term accumulated experience, technology, and expertise in the broadcasting industry. By securing a rich network with global media solution companies, we have introduced their solutions into Korea and have attracted many large domestic companies as customers, including the three terrestrial broadcasting stations KBS, MBC, and SBS.

At this exhibition, PI International introduced the router product line from Evertz, a Canadian broadcasting equipment company that the company imports and distributes. Their EQX platforms range from small 2×1 switches to enterprise-class products capable of routing more than 1,000 signals.

Among them, ‘EQXUHD’, the world’s first enterprise-level pure 12G SDI router, was selected as the most representative product, featuring a maximum size of 160×160 and a multi-viewer linkage function through the ‘XLINK’ option.

While boasting such vast scalability, it also has stability that does not interfere with streaming during operation, with a function that switches only paths where problems occur at the main crosspoint to a spare crosspoint. At the same time, the modular input/output design also supports redundancy of main and spare crosspoints and controllers.

In addition, PI International also introduced the next-generation compact SDI router platform ‘NEXX’. Among them, the ‘NEXX-5’ model has a slot for installing up to 32 additional IO cards in a 32RU frame by adding a basic 5×8 HDBNC input/output card. By default, 3G input is available, and the license can be expanded to upgrade to 12G input/output and add frame sync and multi-view functions.

Multiview supports 4 display outputs per IO module, and audio supports TDM and MADI. Furthermore, it supports web-based GUI multi-view design and operates together with Magnum.

A PI International official said, “Everyone at the company is working together to supply next-generation broadcasting and communication technology from the world’s leading brands to Korea at the most advanced speed.” He added, “In addition to Evertz, we are working with related industries such as TELEVIEW, apt, OPTICIS, and OMITECH. As we maintain close partnerships with leading companies, we are able to provide customized and reasonable solutions to each customer. “We ask for your interest,” he said.

Meanwhile, the KOBA exhibition, co-hosted by Korea E&X and the Korea Broadcasting Engineers Association, was held for the first time in 1991 to improve domestic broadcasting culture and develop the media, sound, and lighting industries, and celebrated its 31st anniversary this year. KOBA 2023, held at COEX Halls A, C, and D, presented next-generation broadcasting services and the future of the media, sound, and lighting industries. In particular, during the exhibition period, it provides an opportunity to acquire professional information related to broadcasting and sound through the International Broadcasting Technology Conference hosted by the Korea Broadcasting Engineers Association and the sound-related professional technology seminar hosted by the Korea Sound Artists Association and the Acoustical Society of Korea.
