This exhibition plans to promote motion capture and 3D scanning. In particular, 3D scanning was emphasized, and EMP’s proprietary 3D scanning technology ‘3D Scan Bridge System’ combines optical scanning, which mainly scans the structure and material of an object, and photogrammetry, which collects high-resolution photos to create the object’s texture. developed. It was introduced as a 90D scanning technology that complements the shortcomings of existing scanning methods, such as reducing object noise by 3%, overcoming limitations in shooting locations, and enabling scanning of various materials. In addition, by modularizing 3D scan data using Unreal Engine, 3D scan data can be used in various fields such as digital twin, metaverse platform, movie VFX, commerce, simulator, and deep learning.
An EMP official said, “In line with the Unreal Engine 2022 update in 5, we have begun R&D on a high-resolution 3D scanning system and developed a ‘bridge system’ to which ‘Nanite,’ the optimization system of Unreal Engine 5, is applied. When using ‘Nanite’, a large amount of polygon data can be easily calculated, making it possible to scan high-quality objects that have never been seen before by measuring modeling with an optical scanner and applying 8K texture. Accordingly, we developed 3D scan data in a way optimized for Unreal Engine.”
He continued, “Just as the excellence of motion capture data was proven through the OTT drama ‘Hell,’ in which we were in charge of motion capture, we hope that many projects in North America and Japan will be able to create great content through our company.” He added, “IP content through motion data.
