At this exhibition, ‘TALK-CAR’, which helps drivers drive safely, will be exhibited. ‘Talk Car’ attaches a transparent LED display to the rear of the car and displays and outputs messages in the form of text or images to express the driver’s opinions.

The transparent LED flexible display secures the driver’s field of view and transparency, and supports message downloading and settings through an application, allowing users to conveniently set settings. The company said that by applying a transparent LED display rather than the existing FR4 PCB display, it is differentiating itself as a service that can help with safe driving based on user convenience.

In addition, the luminance (light brightness) is automatically adjusted according to the external illuminance using an illuminance sensor, and the low-power design makes it suitable for use in automobiles with an average power consumption of 6W. In addition, operation through a dedicated controller ensures stability while driving and ensures compliance with road traffic laws.

A Unict official said, “The problem of inability to communicate while driving a vehicle can lead to various accidents and social problems, so we planned ‘Talk Car’ to alleviate this problem. “It was difficult to commercialize the product due to regulations, but we were able to continue the challenge of commercialization by receiving regulatory special treatment through the regulatory sandbox system on December 24, 2021,” he explained.

He continued, “Similar overseas products cannot be used domestically due to restrictions. On the other hand, ‘Talkaka’ is the first and only service in Korea to be launched through regulatory special certification (sandbox), and it is a service that has been approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, and the Ministry of Science and ICT,” he added.

The background to participating in the exhibition was also revealed. An official said, “The main purpose is to publicize the upcoming ‘Talk Car’, but we are not stopping there, and we are hoping that this will be a venue for various opportunities to collaborate with companies in the mobility industry.” “We will conduct a preliminary survey to incorporate user needs for future advanced products,” he said.

In addition, he said, “Through additional development such as advancement, we plan to supply it to finished car manufacturers and use it as a vehicle exterior material, and we aim to advance into future car parts and autonomous vehicle parts in 2024.”
