    On the 12th, Gwangju Metropolitan City Mayor Kang Ki-jeong called for continuous development and innovation, saying, “The industries centered on semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and mobility, which the 8th popularly elected city is focusing on, are in line with global industrial trends.” Mayor Kang, who returned to Korea on this day after completing a 6-night and 8-day visit to the United States, including Las Vegas and Silicon Valley, where ‘CES 2023’ was held, immediately held an executive meeting at Gwangju City Hall and shared his achievements and thoughts. 

    Mayor Kang said, “The core topic of CES is artificial intelligence and future mobility, and these technologies are based on AI and semiconductors, so Gwangju City’s industry is exactly in line with global trends.” He added, “I thought the direction of the 8th popular election was well established.” He said.

    He said, “This year, we have become more determined to successfully promote key projects that will open the future of Gwangju, such as the second phase of AI project and AI gifted warehouse, and to locate the future automobile national industrial complex, which is scheduled to be confirmed soon, in Gwangju.”

    He continued, “After meeting with startup experts in the U.S., I became convinced that Gwangju’s goal of being a city with a high startup success rate was not wrong,” and added, “C-Lab Outside, Samsung Electronics’ startup support program, and a 500 billion won startup fund. “Please think about how your back will serve as a priming material,” he asked.

    As a result of this visit to the United States, Mayor Kang’s first participation in CES through the operation of the Gwangju co-branded promotional center △ Investment agreement with semiconductor biosensor company Sol Co., Ltd. △ Annual export contract of $10 million with Gwangju co-branded company Ventech Frontier Co., Ltd. △ ESTV, a global e-sports channel Business agreements with Google and AI-related discussions with Nvidia were cited.

    Meanwhile, Mayor Kang said, “Now that I have seen the field of innovation, not only corporate innovation but also innovation in administration is the city’s most urgent task,” adding, “Data-based administrative innovation, collaborative administration beyond partitions, and constant verification and verification of various ideas.” He requested that a system be established.
