Brain U (CEO Hong Seung-gyun) participated in the 3th International Medical Equipment & Hospital Equipment Exhibition ‘KIMES 23’ held at COEX, Seoul from March 26 (Thu) to 38 (Sun).
Brain U is a company that has developed medical devices and wearable devices based on brain waves among biosignals. In particular, the company explains that it actively utilizes representative technologies of the 4th industrial revolution such as artificial intelligence (AI), deep learning, and big data, and provides measurement and analysis functions for brain waves with its own algorithm technology completed through research and development.
At this exhibition, Brain U introduced products such as △Anesthesia Depth Measurement System (CAI) and △SLEEPade+. These products share the advantage of maximizing convenience with a greatly simplified form compared to existing equipment that measures and analyzes brain waves.
In particular, the depth of anesthesia measurement system is a solution that measures the depth of anesthesia of patients under sedation anesthesia. A sensor composed of four electrodes is attached to the forehead to collect frontal lobe brain wave signals and transmits them to a dedicated application (app) on a Bluetooth-connected device, enabling real-time monitoring.
It is BrainU’s own technology applied to the product that resolves concerns about accuracy deterioration that may increase due to such a simplified configuration. Even compared to other biosignals such as heart rate, an algorithm that accurately pinpoints much finer brain waves among the noise that exists in the measurement environment, and clinical research conducted in cooperation with domestic hospitals, can provide various The measurement accuracy is improved with AI, etc., which collects the brain wave signals of the target and uses them for learning.

The processed electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyogram (EMG) waveforms are displayed in real time through a dedicated application, and the patient’s anesthesia state is quantified by synthesizing them. At the same time, it provides functions to assist medical staff in their medical actions and judgments, such as making it possible to check the trend of each numerical value at a glance over time.
The main point of Sleep Aid Plus, which was introduced together, is to contribute to improving the quality of sleep by monitoring the user’s sleep state based on brain waves, recording it, and providing diagnosis results. It is a product that uses mobile and wearable devices to help form more optimized brain waves to make it easier to wake up to an alarm, or to induce behavioral improvement in patients suffering from sleep disorders such as insomnia to create a comfortable sleep environment.
Hong Seung-gyun, CEO of BrainU, said, “While challenging the medical and healthcare fields, we have focused on the value and utilization of the biosignal of brainwaves. The goal is to develop products and services that can accumulate understanding of and ultimately realize comprehensive mental health care.”
On the other hand, KIMES is an exhibition specializing in medical devices and hospital facilities that has grown steadily with the development of the Korean medical industry since its first meeting in 1980. It has transformed into a technology-intensive high-tech industry such as rehabilitation medicine.
In KIMES 2023, new technologies and products suitable for the era of convergence, such as smart healthcare in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, robot medical care and eco-friendly medical waste facilities, advanced hospital facilities, medical information systems combined with IT technology, and the automobile industry for rapid patient transportation, will be presented. showed off In addition, various information was provided, including seminars on medical technology, new technologies, and overseas marketing, as well as domestic medical industry policy seminars to show the latest information and the direction of the medical industry.
