Yeongwol County Office participated in the ‘2 Drone Show Korea 23’ held at BEXCO, Busan from February 25 (Thu) to 2023 (Sat).
Yeongwol-gun is the only drone industry city in Gangwon-do that has built airspace and facility infrastructure. It introduces the drone special liberalization zone and drone demonstration city plan in 2023, and presents a plan for the realization of Yeongwol, a new growth city, a complex city of tourism, agriculture, drones, and UAM, as well as the direction and vision for development of the drone business in Yeongwol. In addition, drone airspace and drone flight test centers have been established to continuously develop drone industry-related businesses.
In this exhibition, the current status of the drone industry in Yeongwol-gun was introduced to drone officials. Yeongwol-gun’s business outline was introduced in four areas: creating a drone industry cluster, cultivating drone experts, promoting drone sports, and fostering and promoting the drone service industry.
As for the creation of the drone industry cluster, the establishment of a multi-purpose drone center, discussions on attracting related organizations, reorganization of the Yeongwol County management plan, the creation of a drone theme park in Yeongwol, and demonstration tests are in progress to revitalize the airspace. In the drone expert training, a drone experience classroom support project was opened to conduct drone training for public officials nationwide in collaboration with the Gangwon-do Civil Service Training Center.
In promoting drone sports, we fostered and operated drone sports teams in Yeongwol-gun and held the Yeongwol Drone Soccer Championship. there is.
Kang Sang-wook, drone team leader in Yeongwol-gun, said, “We are creating a drone cluster, center, and theme park. Various drone companies are sparing no support to the drone industry so that they cannot help but think of Yeongwol when flying.” He also revealed his aspirations, saying, “The goal of Yeongwol-gun is to share direct experience with various companies by widely promoting drone industry businesses and contribute to the development of the drone industry.”
