Newbility (CEO Lee Sang-min), a self-driving robot delivery platform, announced on the 2023th that its self-driving robot ‘Neubie’ received an innovation award in the smart city category at CES 18.
The CES Innovation Award is annually selected and awarded by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) to products that demonstrate the world’s most outstanding technology and innovation through rigorous screening by a panel of expert judges.
‘Newbee’ is an autonomous robot developed and manufactured to enable stable autonomous driving even in urban environments with high autonomous driving complexity and positioning error rates. We used multi-camera-based V-SLAM instead of expensive LiDAR sensors, and internalized technologies such as sensor fusion for AI-based obstacle recognition and avoidance driving logic, and identification of driving environment and drivable area to provide accurate and reliable navigation even in dense building environments in urban areas. It is designed to enable location estimation. Through research and development over the past two years, the company has secured competitiveness comparable to LiDAR-based autonomous driving technology, significantly lowering the high cost structure such as production costs, which is one of the biggest obstacles to innovation in the delivery market, and is taking a big step toward preparing for full-scale commercialization. Bility said.
Based on Newbee’s advanced technology and marketability, we have already been conducting demonstration projects in representative urban environments such as Seoul and Songdo since last year, and are planning to commercialize delivery robot services for major golf courses across the country within this year. In addition, in October of last year, we signed a business agreement (MOU) with Goggo Network, a European company specializing in self-driving car and robot logistics, and began trial operation of self-driving robot delivery service mainly in downtown Spain, taking our first step toward targeting overseas markets. took a step
Lee Sang-min, CEO of Newability, said, “We are honored that our self-driving robot Newbee was selected as an innovative technology product that will lead future trends at CES, the world’s best ICT exhibition in name and reality.” He added, “Based on the successful operation experience accumulated to date, “We will strive to secure more advanced technological competitiveness and quickly establish leadership in the domestic and overseas autonomous robot market.”
Meanwhile, CES is the world’s largest home appliance and IT product exhibition hosted by the Consumer Technology Association and held every January in Las Vegas, USA. Newbee, which won the CES 1 Innovation Award, is scheduled to be exhibited at CES 2023, which will be held from January 1 to 5 next year.
