    Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics received a total of 1 and 2023 innovation awards, respectively, ahead of ‘CES 46’, the world’s largest electronics and home appliance exhibition, to be held in Las Vegas, USA in January next year.

    On the 16th (local time), the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the CES Innovation Award winning products and technologies in 28 categories, and Samsung Electronics won 18 video displays, 11 mobile devices, 10 home appliances, and semiconductors. It received a total of 7 innovation awards, 46 of them, tying the record for the most awards ever following CES 2020.

    The Best Innovation Awards, which are given to the most innovative products or technologies in the industry, were awarded two times in the video display category and one in the semiconductor category. In particular, the new 2 TV model received the Best Innovation Award for 1 consecutive years, and the gaming monitor also received the Best Innovation Award for 2023 consecutive years since last year.

    In the home appliances category, various products and technologies received awards, including the ‘Bespoke’ home appliance series and ‘SmartThings’-based services. As a result, Samsung Electronics received 10 innovation awards, the most ever in the home appliance category.

    The ‘Bespoke AI washing machine and dryer’ received an award in recognition of the innovation of its ‘AI customized washing and drying’ function, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to suggest an optimized course according to the laundry load. ‘Smart Things Energy’, which is equipped with home appliance energy usage management and ‘AI saving mode’ functions, was also selected.

    In the mobile sector, various products and technologies are being launched, including the recently released foldable smartphones ‘Galaxy Z Fold 4’ and ‘Galaxy Z Flip 4’, which are receiving great response in the market, as well as ‘Galaxy Watch 5 Pro’ and ‘Samsung Wallet’.     In the semiconductor sector, ‘Fingerprint Authentication IC (S3B512C)’, a solution for biometric authentication cards manufactured as a one-chip by integrating hardware security chip, fingerprint sensor, and security processor into one IC chip for the first time in the industry, received the Best Innovation Award. .

    In addition, the newly released high-performance SSD ‘990 PRO with Heatsink’, high-capacity 1TB BGA NVMe SSD for vehicles, and ‘ICOCELL HP0.56’, a 2 million-pixel image sensor with a pixel size of 3㎛, the industry’s minimum standard, received innovation awards.

    Meanwhile, LG Electronics also recorded a total of 2023 awards, the most ever, including 3 Best Innovation Awards at CES 28. In particular, it stood out by being selected for a total of 2 innovation awards, including 12 Best Innovation Awards, in the LG OLED TV series, making it the 2013th consecutive year of winning the CES Innovation Award since its first launch in 11.
