Moorim P&P introduced bioplastics and biodegradable plastics │Photography-Aving News
Moorim P&P participated in ‘KOPLAS 3 (14th International Plastics and Rubber Industry Exhibition)’ held at KINTEX in Ilsan for 18 days from Tuesday, March 5th to Saturday, March 2023th.
Established in 1974, Moorim P&P is Korea’s only pulp and paper company that produces and develops a variety of biodegradable products using pulp. In addition to being the first in the paper industry to obtain low-carbon paper certification, we are developing products that add value and convenience to everyday life while also considering the environment, such as biodegradable paper straws, paper cups, paper tubes, and pulp molds made from natural raw pulp. In order to expand applications using pulp in the future, we are focusing on bioplastics and biodegradable plastics.
This exhibition introduced eco-friendly bioplastics made from natural raw pulp. There are two main types of bioplastic products: biodegradable plastic and carbon reduction plastic. In particular, in the case of carbon reduction plastic, the concept is to reduce plastic usage and carbon dioxide by applying pulp or wood particles to general plastic.
Accordingly, Moorim P&P is developing resin and working with collaborating companies to produce products in the injection area such as toothbrushes and meal plates through applications. Moorim P&P’s bioplastic has a uniform color, and in particular, Moorim P&P pointed out that it has excellent supply stability and physical property stability because it directly manages wood products to make pulp. In addition, when making products using pulp, it is also characteristic that points that can be modified or changed can be developed customized for the customer through the company’s own research center.
In addition, Moorim P&P also introduced products based on nanocellulose, an eco-friendly new material, at this exhibition. Nano Cellulose O is a material made by splitting cellulose, the main component of wood, into nanoparticles. Thermal stability and hydrophilicity are also excellent.
Cellulose nanofiber (CNF) is made by converting nanocellulose into nanometer-wide fibers, and Moorim P&P has optimized the CNF manufacturing process for each pretreatment technology.
Moorim P&P said, “The eco-friendly plastic field is still a small market. Accordingly, we hope that many companies will participate and expand in related fields,” he said, adding, “Among them, we would like to use this opportunity to inform people that we are more specialized in products using wood.” .
On the other hand, KOPLAS, which celebrated its 2023th anniversary in 27, provides various attractions from raw materials for plastics to molds, processing machines, related auxiliary devices, automation solutions, printing, packaging, semi-finished products, and finished products, and presents the present and future of related industries. A ‘place for the plastic rubber-related industry’ was established. As it was held concurrently with the Korea Material·Composite Materials and Equipment Exhibition (K-Mtech) and the International Mold and Related Equipment Exhibition (INTERMOLD KOREA), various products were introduced in one place.
